Its hard to see it clearly from this angle. Sometimes there’s a really long ladder that I climb to take a pic but it wasn’t there on Thursday night so this will have to do…

I’ll post pics of the complete banner tomorrow 👍🏽
It doesn’t look very impressive from this position but I’m sure it’ll look fantastic from the stands.

Oh look at ya you gorgeous thing!

DARTH VADER

Cmon War show a little faith,... ur gunna luurve it☺️

That banner is really impressive. I mean really, really good. I’m sure Oli will feel very proud, and, as such, the DA should also feel proud of what they’ve done and continue to do. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated, and talented group, representing the supporter in all of us.

With milestones we have the player’s name then “150 (insert adjective) games.” With Fritta’s 100th it was “100 hair-raising games” 😁

But with Clarrie there’s an additional sentence coz Clarrie 😍

We should enlist you for copywriting Layz! They’re great! Now the adjective on the banner is gonna seem boring. 😭

Well I’m old enough, and lucky enough, to have seen all of our ‘greats’ in the last seven or so decades, and I can honestly put my hand on my (❤️ & 💙) heart, and say that Clarrie is up there with the very best in my lifetime!
Outstanding achievement Clas!  You will be weighed down by medals around your neck, when the inevitable time comes, and you will have earned every one of them!  I love your ‘never say die’ attitude!  I love that you bleed ❤️ & 💙 for us, each and and every week!

Thanks DOF.  Nice to hear this from someone going back who can compare.

Im old enough to go back to Greg Parke (the first Demon i remember as a kid as he would choof a ciggy and butt it out as the siren sounded to start a match!), Hardeman, Alves, Wells, Biffo etc onwards.  And of course then came Tulip.

I'd have to put Tulip in there alongside Clarry.  Different types of players though and diff positions.

If i was asked who was/is the better player overall wow.  Very difficult call indeed until we see how the remainder of Clarry's career pans out.

However what i will say is he's the best MFC mid fielder i've seen in my time and anything he does from here is just going to add weight to what is already a stellar career.

So reliable and so gutsy.  The mark of a great player is not just how he goes in a winning team but what he does when the team isn't.  Clarry you star son... fingers crossed you get to 300 plus...and i live long enough to see em! ❤️💙👹💪🏼👏🏼

I did, because that’s what I call Clayton. He likes it (no surprise since he’s so agreeable) as well as “Clazz” which I think he likes best.

What about Clarry Choo Choo ??

I am reliably informed that "The Great man"

Clayton Oliver was absolutely magnificent in his 150th game for the Melbourne Football Club.

He has such a voracious appetite for the footy and always goes in hard for the ball. Tough as nails too!

Kicked 2 goals and got 25 possessions too. It was a great game!

Well done Clarrie!

A game to Remember.

These are the games where little kids become Demons for Life. big Crowds, lots of Goals. Demon jumpers will be in the schoolyard.
There will be a nice spike in Membership Signings this week…

WOW, The banner was fantastic, certainly one of the best I’ve seen in my many years of Dee watching!

BUT, you’ve set yourselves an almost impossible task: how are you going to better it for Clayton’s 200th?

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
