2023 Predictions

Recommended Posts

Normally someone has started one by now….

Top 8

Dees

Lions

Swans

Cats

Richmond

Dogs

Pies

Freo

I’m predicting no change from last season.

Premiers : Demons

Brownlow : Oliver (he’ll go to another level this season)

Coleman : Fogarty

Rising Star : Ashcroft but I’m putting a few multis on with Phillipou in them.

Wooden Spoon : Hawks (and they don’t care, they want pick 1, they got rid of a heap of talent last year. This is this template for future success.)

In order to get some value in a pre season multi, I have included Port Adelaide in my final eight.

Not much love for them above - does anyone else think they can make it?

I don’t personally, I think they could be 0 & 5 again.

Lions @ AO

Pies @ MCG

Crows @ AO

Swans @ SCG

Dogs @ AO

It that was to happen, even 1 & 4 Hinkley will again be under enormous pressure. He’s had a long time with no success.

I tried uploading a photo but apparently it’s too big. Back in 2016 I put a few $10 multis on taking different combinations of the Premiers, Coleman, Rising Star and Brownlow. The bet that came closest had

Premiers : Dogs @ $12.50

Coleman : J. Kennedy @ $2.75

Brownlow : Danger @ $9

Rising star : Oliver @ $10  (Oliver came 2nd to Heeney)

Would of paid $30,937.50

Footscray

Premiers: Melbourne Demons (And how good does it feel to make that prediction realistically?)

Runner up: Brisbane

Brownlow: Oliver (made possible by an overall fairly even Brownlow count total in the low 20s)

Rising star: That Ashcroft kid.

Spoon: North Melbourne because Clarko is a tanker anyway.

Fun fringe things:

1st and 2nd in the Coleman are both from the same club

1st and 2nd in the Brownlow are both from the same club.

Alistair Clarkson joins the Pagan/Malthouse legacy of Premiership coaches who [poop] the bed at a new developing club.

Melbourne wins the premiership, keeps Pickett then gains Ben McKay as a restricted free agent, and recruits tall defender/swingman Daniel Curtin with its top ten draft pick courtesy of Freo, completing a defensive succession plan and made particularly sweet by knowing that he is exactly the player Freo would have taken.

In response to speculation about Melbourne's salary cap, three top players all reveal that they are only on about 80% of their 'market' value and that there are also others who prefer to remain private about it.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
