Maybe they thought BBB, Tom Mac, Fritta, JVR, Max, Weid, maybe Petty and now Bruce was enough for one year.

Got BBB who helped us win flag in 2021!!!

JVR !!!

So people are happy with our forward stocks when clearly it was a weakness and was the area that most needed attention

TMac was almost traded a bbb was a medical casualty

They were trying through the LJ trade to get Cadman. That hasn't worked.

We are loading up reasonable picks in next year's draft, with more cap space as well. That will allow opportunities.

You haven't answered, who would you have got, or should we have been able to get.

Easy to criticize, but what are your suggestions?

We could say they are idiots for not getting McKay, Cameron and Naughton. You can only get who is available at that time.

Just wait and see It's the forward line as a whole that matters  2021 proved that.

Melb has rarely had a star forward ( ie leading goal kicker) but has numerous players on the firward line that kick goals and play team footy.

It's partly the way we played in 2022 and fitness of BBB and Tmac. Also.

I’ve seen a lot of we lost Mitch Brown but he played 4 games in the last 2 years, all one off cameos. And JVR is now ready as the 3rd key forward behind Ben and Tom.

Weid is 3rd ruck as well as 4th key forward so in theory could be stuck trying to be 2 places at once but the hope would be one of Gawn/Grundy are available for most of the year.

Melk’s also staying on as emergency 5th key forward.

That’s all without Petty forward or something more out of the box like Howes as a hit up tall.

My point is I don’t think we actually need more depth for depths sake unless we think McDonald and Brown are in serious strife and/or we think Bruce is quick fix fitness wise and an upgrade. Maybe he is?!

Weideman would be traded if Bruce came in l think. Melk isnt going to make our forward line function as he is too small for the long bombs. Coaches want the old model with resting ruck, BB and someone that can compete for the long bombs to support BB coming in from the side ie Tmac, Bruce, JVR ....  if grundy and gawn are injured then play Joel Smith / Harmes in the ruck they will compete better than Weid anyhow

He isn't anywhere near the hand

My main point isn't about Bruce its about the club  ending up with poor options hoping BB and Tmac recover

We have had a need for a KPF for 3 years and have done nothing about developing trading or drafting one

We have BBB and JVR

There’s plenty of downside, he’s coming off a serious knee reco, looked like an unfit park footballer when he came back, at his 4th club, 30 years old, has a man bun & the worst Tatts in the AFL

Imagine BBB & Bruce plonking along in straight lines in our already dysfunctional forward line

FWIW Tommo was not as flexible in 2022 after his injury in 2021. So he could be better like Josh Bruce the year after his fist year back also!

I’d say they just want to make sure we don’t get caught short again while we are in this premiership window .

Last season when TMac went down it cost us dearly and BBB has always managed an ongoing injury and could go down anytime.

Personally id like us to go with a rejigged  forward line using JVR and Petty ( who I really feel have the goods) and either TMac or Brown, or a Josh Bruce as that next tall.

I get your point Kent, but I also think the club can only recruit players that are available.

I’d say our preference is to get in quality key position forwards, and Bruce may fill a hole for a few seasons. Then we will likely try and increase our draft hand for this year and bring in another longer term key position player.

Yes agreed but we have trusted that T Mac and Wiederman were it for too long to be our talls. It hasnt worked and  replacements should have been sourced

I’m guessing you haven’t read a game day or post match thread this year. Or Demonland or Facebook MFC forums in general.

BBB has been bagged all year up to this point

Two thousand wrongs don’t make a right.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
