Clarry is a super player and would be a worthy winner

But i prefer having a team including Trac and Gawn taking votes off Clarry than Brisbane, Carlton or Golds Coast where the stand out player has no competition meaning the team is weaker. I'm sure Clarry feels the same and reckon he's much more disappointed by the limp straight sets exit than missing out on a Brownlow

Agreed save that actually Cripps has plenty of internal competition from Sam Walsh (an even Charlie Curnow who polled well as a forward in a medal count heavily weighted to midfielders).

Fortunate for Cripps that Walsh had an injury at the start of the season, missed the first month of the season and took him sometime to play himself back into form. If Walsh was available for the whole season and played like he did  in 2021, Cripps probably would have fallen short in the Browlow count 2022.

My tip for 2023 is that Sam Walsh will have a stellar season, he is ready for his breakout season as an elite footballer. He should poll highly in next years Brownlow count.

For info only. I thought I'd do a comparison of Coaches award votes vs Brownlow votes for Clarry to see whether it was lop sided.

R3 and R23 he should have received 3 brownlow votes as BOG, arguably should/could have picked up a vote in R15, but received BOG in R21 in the Brownlow despite not getting any coaches votes at all. So my take is that he polled fairly accurately overall comparatively.

Yeah I thought in Rd 22 he could have snuck in for a vote. Rd 23 was a no brainer 3 voter and a no brainer no voter for Neale.

Cripps is indeed a deserving winner. Sure he came before the MRO and the tribunal for the Ah Chee concussion incident but CFC went the appeal route which was a legitimate and available avenue to take and were successful. An appeal process mechanism exists for good reason.

....

That does not mean the decision was correct or that the mechanism is appropriate for football,  Even Gil was spitting chips.

With the explanation? Sure. But that’s where the help ends. 🙃

The time of the season for this bloke to be dumb enough to get himself reported in an open/shut case was unbelievable.

It would have cost Carlton as much to get him off as it would have for them to miss out on finals.

Would be  very interesting to see the all betting sheets from the baggers, laid on him winning.

Let's all celebrate this Brownlow with a cool glass of turnip juice.

Make that Pickle Juice, then you will get the same reaction I got on Sunday night.

He still is and will for most of his retirement .  FWIW I totally agree with Gil and call this the "Fake Win" akin to the Blues Over Payments  when "Pigs [censored]" Elliot ran the Club like Crown Casino.

Hard not to dislike Paddy really but it happened right in front of me and from the top level stand on the wing:/hf he deliberately decided that Carlton needed some grunt to liven up his players ( they were 5/6 goals down) and took out Ah Chee as a sample of "tough footy". The 2 weeks was absolutely justified and the shambolic AFL MRO/Tribunal/Appeals system is a disgrace. Should be rethought and restructured before 2023.

TYSYL

Blatantly Deliberate bump when had choice to tackle. Feet off the ground gives it away !!! If you choose to bump and concuss a player you are responsible for your action.

Saw it right in front of me!

Said  to friend next to me that it was  2 gamer but knowing AFL he might get off!!!!  MRO and Tribunal got it right only the Appeals Brainless Trio got  it so horribly wrong as Gil says so!!

Wonder if you would have same opinion if that was Clarry in a Prelim and going to miss a Granny through Concussion !!

Now that gambling companies have such a huge influence on the entire AFL budget, and thinking, these sort of things always leave questions, and a sour taste.

You reckon maybe the word to the AFL will go out.Tighten up the ship or we'll lighten up the book.

And so it should, the bugler chooffes off overseas and gets the call back, oh bother..

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
