I’m coming back to Australia for the first time in 4 years . Last melb game I went to was the semi final win over the hawks. What’s the weather forecast like Friday? Tempted to go see the pies game. I’ve got a seat in the MCC for the blues but this week could be a cracker

The cold and wet weather forecast for Friday night I believe is just another piece of ‘fake news’ that the ferals are putting out there to try and keep fair weather Demon supporters away - but bring some wet weather gear just in case

It might drizzle a little in the afternoon but don't think it will be a downpour. Certainly not enough to deter supporters from getting there.

Travelling down from Brisbane for the game - first game for the year and I can’t wait….

I've already had a sulk about the AFL Members being sold out.  Could only get seats on level 4 🤢

You picked a great game for first of the season! It’s gonna be MASSIVE. The tide has turned and who wouldn’t wanna be there to witness what’ll likely be a huge win for us?!

And it’s awesome that you’re making the trip down for this considering - among other things - the weather is not what you’re used to.

So if Queenslanders can cope with our winter conditions, Victorians can and should, too.

End of lecture/pep talk

Thanks for that WCW I needed a pep talk this morning. Not one of my better days.

Pretty poor and uneven fixturing by the AFL to schedule us 5 games in a row away from the G.

I think we did pretty well to go 3-2 considering we went Adelaide-Geelong-Alice Springs-Docklands-Perth.

Hopefully we get a lot more MFC fans than on QBDAY as were clearly outnumbered that day.

Oh god no, I hate watching on TV, nothing worse.  I feel much more in control at the ground, you can see the mistakes coming 😄

Doesn't help that Collingwood have by far the most representation of all AFL Members.

It can often resemble the Collingwood members reserve.

From level 4? They look like ants. At least they have free oxygen bottles under the seats!

Just the ageing process WCW. Some days are diamond some days are stone.

Dees have been away from the G for 5 weeks. And there will be legions of filth having won 10 in a row. I reckon there will be a monstrous crowd.

Yep so plan for level 4 at the top or get there 2 hours early. Here's an idea play a seconds game to keep everyone amused.

All I want for this game is no more obnoxious and pedantic opposition supporters in the corporate suites behind me. I had bad experiences in the Freo and Sydney games. Can't stand a loud mouth Pies supporter for the whole game!

My routine is a few froffs then just roll out into the bottom lvl standing 5 mins before the opening bounce.

I've got my ticket. In MCC members, so hopefully we'll outnumber filth supporters.

Yep Level 2 (4 mad and very vocal Demon supporters) - No alcohol area - not many of the filth get up there for obvious reasons.

Can't stand Pies supporters anywhere, anytime. Especially at the moment as they are even more arrogant than usual.

I used to do that when my legs worked well K. Not on these days.

Too right I'll be there. Missed the Queen's Birthday game, but my daughter, a blues supporter, went with her diehard Dee's supporter partner. She was shocked at the behaviour of Collingwood supporters, giving it to Dee's supporters as they left after the game. Carried on like they had just won the flag. Not to mention the filth bench mouthing off at Max as he went off injured (I have it on good authority he gave them a big spray back, especially Maxwell). We owe this mob big time. Expect CP5 to have a big one

Goodwin saying the club are hoping for 85-90K is wishful thinking.

Suspect it will be between 67-72K.

Having said that, weather permitting, the Pies could bring 40K to this and that will make it go close to 80.

Very much hoping there 40K+ of us there.

Weather should be no excuse, Id happily be sitting shirtless in a hail storm to watch this one. Hopefully our fickle fanbase come out in droves to support this team. Might not watch as good a Melbourne side ever again.

Biggest home and away crowd in recent history (not including the 50’s n 60’s) was 83.5k (2018)….would be an impressive feat to beat this!!

cmon Dees faithful let’s get there

There was 85k for ANZAC eve in 2017. Something like that would be awesome!

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
