Not in Alice Springs, there are a lot of indigenous kids up here and I think that the Elders would approve of our NARRM jumper.👍👌🤘💕💕

I just wish the game wasn’t played in Darwin. Port will have a bigger contingent of Supporters than us.
We have to stop this selling home ground advantage for cash.
We are not battling to find sponsors anymore

It's not in Darwin, it's in Alice Springs.  Personally I love the fact the club has developed such close ties with the Santa Teresa community, it reminds us that as a not for profit organisation there are commitments to the community being met.

That can all be done in the off season

We sold games in the NT because we couldn’t get Sponsorship, but those dark days have passed. We should be playing this game at The MCG against Port Adelaide in front of a hostile crowd.
September is not far away

Port will have a bigger support up there

This year's indigenous jumper isn't my favourite of all the art works/designs we've adopted, but I do like certain aspects of the design that I hope we will retain: Mindi the devil snake in particular!

From a design perspective, the white and black Bunjil (wedge tailed eagle) is what I think throws the balance off a bit. And I think that if that image was in red and blue people would get around it much more.

Here is all of the designs we've had if anyone is interested:

http://www.footyjumpers.com/melbourneindig.htm

We've stated in our RAP that "our vision for reconciliation is to unite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with non-Indigenous people through the game of AFL". This doesn't just mean once a year.

If wearing an indigenous art designed jumper 4 times is a method of helping bring those groups of people together, then that's a good thing.

If non-indigenous people think "it's too much" or "I just want our old jumper back" then perhaps they are the people who the club are patiently leading, by taking them on the journey they have identified with the indigenous community in development of the RAP. It's also possible they'll never be convinced, but the representation and visibility matters, and it will have a positive impact on the next generation coming along regardless of some people holding out.

So, everyone is free to dislike the particular artistic design (although as something we have commissioned and chosen and has meaning this is lightyears away from the forced clash jumpers of the past). But the concept and frequency? In a week where NSW announced it was taking it's flag off the harbour bridge, and a year where the VicGov is progressing a treaty and the federal government is making strides too, this isn't going anywhere.

Thanks for posting this. I've read a few pages of our RAP but haven't read it all (which I should). I think this quote you posted sums up what most people think the club is and should be doing with regards to reconciliation: "our vision for reconciliation is to unite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with non-Indigenous people through the game of AFL". I think this is a worthy goal and I'm glad our club, and the AFL in general pursues this - as they have done for about 3 decades now. From your perspective, how many times a season is the optimal number to wear the Indigenous jumper to achieve that goal I've stated above?

Will give this a bump... Didnt wear the indigenous strip and we had a win

And here it is folks, a classic case study in mistaking coincidence for causation.

From memory, we had some bloody good wins in that horrible Bali knockoff jumper back in 2017.

Because of that, I say let's bring that design back!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
