That's what you get paid the big bucks for WCW.

I get paid in ways that transcend mere $$$, BBO. You should try it sometime.

He’s Ryan. He’s one of a group of OGs who run the DA. Pre-covid he didn’t miss a single match in 21 years, including every interstate game and even in China!
And you’re right… he’s loyal and passionate to such a degree, it’s next level. He’s always in the second row at games and he’s one of the three guys who strike up our chants. I’m usually in the third row or front row and his enthusiasm is infectious. And on top of all that, he’s a really nice person. We tease him a little about his hair and about folks wanting to get a selfie with him and he takes it really well. He’s the best.

He reckons that’s not him in that meme, rather it’s his evil twin. 😁 The irony is that he does in fact have a twin, but they look nothing alike.
edit: I pass on every positive comment on DL to him and the others. As for the OP’s thread opener… yeah nah.

I was at the Suns game at the Gabba in 2018.

Ryan was the MC for the pre game.

Extremely capable performer in front of an audience.

I saw him at the G the following Saturday and congratulated him on job as host.

This week the MFC is “THANKING OUR WA MEMBERS” who are “THE BEST IN THE WEST” which they are. 😘❤️💙

Why thankyou! Haha

And the target that’s held up when one of our players is lining up for goal has names and dates of when it was hit. Tmac was closest to the bullseye for a while, until last week in Alice where BBB took his place as closest…

Thanks WCW how cool is that, should let the boys know that might get more hits.😀

I didn't see it anywhere else on here but I thought it was pretty amazing watching the cheer squad and surrounds sing happy birthday to Ryan on Saturday night (the printed photos were a good touch) after the players ran through a banner with his face on it as well!

Wholesome reacts only everyone, what a great club and supporters!

Kate asked for a flag to be passed up to her and while not expecting a huge one, she took it and waved it like a pro…

At halftime she came down to wish Ryan happy birthday and ended up sitting with us for the rest of the match. And if anyone questions her passion for the Dees, she sat directly in front of me and let’s just say girl can barrack!

Great to see the Melbourne Demons President Kate Roffey barracking hard with the Demon Army! Fantastic stuff!

I also loved seeing the old school 1980s Demons logo signs in the Demon Army! :P

Any chance we can cram something about Gus signing on the banner this week WCW? 😜

It may well get a mention… who knows. We’ve been told if ever we have an idea for banner content to let the OGs know. And if our DA WhatsApp chat is anything to go by, there’s likely gonna be no shortage of people suggesting it. ❤️💙

edit: we’ve made this week’s banner already. Ignore the above. 🙃

Tonight we made the banner for our round 2 AFLW match. (The banner for round one tomorrow night is en route to Adelaide now.) This is the round 2 banner…

It says, “ON THE BIG STAGE AND ON THE RAMPAGE” which is a reference to the ‘G, now that the match has been moved to be curtain raiser for our QF. 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

Incidentally, we’re the only AFLW team that makes a banner for the girls to run through. Pretty sad for the other teams.

Also, I’ve been tasked with the refurbishment of the giant Maxy head, the one with holes where his eyes should be (the creepy one). A couple of nightlights from IKEA and a couple of power banks and Maxy’s eyes will shine! 😃 It’s gonna look cool. Or at least less creepy.

This week’s banner celebrates Tracc’s 150th game. There is an absolutely stunning (and huge) montage of mainly Tracc moments. This section instantly made me think of @Jaded No More

This banner is gonna look amazing tomorrow night.

Also, Tom Sparrow’s 50th gets a mention. But not Hibbo’s 100th as a Demon because only total number of games is noted. All good though, we all know the importance of this. ❤️💙

You mean that 100 games with the red and the blue gives us the father - son opportunity?

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
