What Essendon would do to have a player like Jack Viney in their team to fly the flag, has never taken a backward step & would do anything to help his team mates

And a bloody good leader & footballer too

Knowing the Bummers trading history, they will try to sell Dylan Sheil as a like for like swap for OUR JV 🤯

Jack Viney 27 and 12 tackles 🍆

I know it has already been mentioned but anyone reading this thread who hasn't seen his interview on the Gus & Gawny podcast needs to watch it.

He speaks about how he used to be an endurance beast but due to his injuries he has never been able to get it together for an AFL season. This season, finally fully fit and showing his full capabilities.

They'll also think getting Viney would solve all their problems. In reality, they're already well served with smaller bodied midfielders. Viney would give them much needed grunt...but they'd still have a very small midfield group.

That kick to #31 in the goal square in the final quarter was elite!

Its kind of like he had a footballing epiphany after his suspension late last season. Been a different player since.

Jack is having a great year. Plus, he’s now our games record holder for #7, having passed Brian Wilson when he played his 155th game. He’s now on 158, I think. (God Only Knows when @Demonstonewill make a Good Vibrations comment.)

Do you want me to Do It Again?  I'm currently In My Room, but I Get Around.  :D

I am amazed that Jack Viney is the games record holder of a number that low at the MFC, well done and long may it go on.

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
