The VFL Practice Matches are underway, and Casey Demons are taking on Carlton VFL tomorrow.

Mar 3: Carlton v Casey Demons (Ikon Park, Carlton, 12.50pm)

This would be a good opportunity to see our fringe, young, up-and-coming players and check out who is close to breaking in. In particular, I am keen to see how Bailey Laurie has progressed.

Would anyone know if these games are being streamed anywhere (Kayo/ app/ YouTube)?

Anyone able to head down to Ikon Park?

I'm going to try if it's open to spectators. I'm not real good with reports though!

Strange timing from an MFC viewpoint.

Friday or Saturday would have made a lot more sense for those on the AFL extended bench/fringe

It must be difficult being a Casey listed player these days. You have to have a full time job because football doesn't pay the bills, but then you have to front up for a VFL practice match at midday on a Thursday or travel interstate on a Friday for a poorly fixtured match during the season.

I'm here. 10 mins to go in the 1st and we're up 19-7.

I'm struggling to recognise players, lots of high numbers

I'm in the shade which is currently the Carlton goals. Maj just jumped so high at the centre bounce it looked like the other guy was on his knees.

We just kicked another but can't see who it was, I need binoculars!

I am surprised you need to make that comment DJ. We all know what a [censored] up the feeder competition is. Our mistake is trying to apply logic to it.

Spot on, it makes you wonder if that it is not the plan. I have this vision of them putting all the ideas in a hat and then drawing out the winning idea no matter what it says.

Quarter time Casey up 5.2.32 to Carlton 1.1.7

The majority of the play since I got here halfway through the 1st has been up the other end in our forward half, only saw it get deep into Carlton's forward line once for that goal.

Cant find any info on guernsey numbers online, the Casey site says to check closer to the VFL season so I'm flying blind here unfortunately. Does Mitch Brown's hair go curly when it grows out? I think I saw him run the length of the field. Also looked like Weid's kicking style slotting a nice one up the other end.

Can't tell if Dunstan is playing Demon Jack as I wouldn't have the faintest what he looks like and with no numbers I'm up the creek without a paddle

Would luv to have seen a line up for this match!?!

surely at 2 hours before game time a team sheet can be reported!

That assumes they care about the fans NC.

Lots of construction happening at Princes Park (hoping the photo attached)

Might be our new training establishment!

Wasn't Weid named in the actual field in tonight's game?

Yep he was…odd

Do our listed players wear their Melbourne numbers when playing for Casey?

The players I thought were Mitch Brown and Weid are wearing 38 and 26 so things might have suddenly got easier!!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
