Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sadly I think he is a VFL talent DJ. If it does not happen this year it never will.

Weid I think was actually smart to sign a two year extension with us. He is still young at around 24-25 yo and will be free agent and in his prime for his next contract.

If he had of gone to a Gold Coast for more money he would have been exposed and much more demanded of him and a likely scenario where he fails. By taking a modest wage at Melbourne he can continue to develop and not get over exposed. He could still become a good player in the right team when he is at the peak of his abilities. Will that be at Melbourne? Not sure. He has another two years to prove he has value to a club. And Melbourne will want to make him a good prospect if for no other reason than to trade.

Players are not commodities, Redleg. Let's be careful before we become so hubristic that we think that our lesser players have enhanced values that are tradable.

One of the magic features of 2021 was the unity of the club. Let's keep it that way.

I don't agree with this. Players have a market value as evidenced by the trading system and compensation granted for the loss of free agents.

As an example, Hogan's departure netted us a valuable draft pick. The alternative, if players are not commoditised, is that Hogan would have left for nothing in return.

We can argue forever as to whether the value clubs get for various players is appropriate, but every player is assessed against a market rate whenever movement occurs (or, perhaps, doesn't occur, because of the rate.)

Weid's biggest problem is he can't bring the ball to ground. He gets in position then just doesn't seem to even get his hands on it.

T Mac finished top 10 in the B&F in a premiership year. I doubt his spot is up for grabs.

On what Ive seen in training form T Mac is clearly and should be the prefered option. Weeds is backup at this stage unless he dominates at Casey and T Mac goes horribly out of form or is injured. Melky is a bit different but still has his work cut out to break into this outfit!

I think Weid can be a backup for Fritsch too, in case of injury. Or you'd shift Tmac into that crafty role, then have BB & Sam as key forwards.

Would be preferable to trial it before bringing in Mitch Brown over Weid in that Fritta role

Thanks Mr. Picket. Love reading your training reports that are so insightful and entertaining. It’s almost like being there. It’s obviously a labour of love for you and we Demonlanders are the lucky recipients of your training reports.

We, the ones who cannot get there to any training session, are highly indebted to you, PF. Training is as interesting to us a being at a 'reserves' game of the past but moving into the 'here and now', represents a vital cog in the wheels of performance and player/team readiness.

He is also a handy replacement should on of our key forwards go down or lose form. We only really uound top form in the back third of the season once our forward line struck form. It is essential for us.

It's baffling that Weid signed on. Would get more opportunity elsewhere. I don't think McDonald will be dropped anytime soon, the Weid is depth for 2 years.

Baffling? 🤔

Sure more opportunity elsewhere but after all MFC are the reigning Premiers and if Weid has self belief and a free run with injury who better to play with. Maybe he has taken it as a challenge and a learning experience.

Weid should not be played as full forward. He should be a second ruck and resting forward. Really if we lose either Maxy or Jacko through injury.

He plays  better running around and the 2018 Finals and his Carlton game this year proves that. Or send him back to CHB at Casey and use Harry as a forward now Tommo is back.

We have options let's make the best of them all for each player and the team!

I really think they, the powers that be, think he could fill the CHF spot and give us the versatility that a damaged Fritch or Macca would require especially for a game plan that will be under intense physical pressure.

Could have said the same thing about McDonald who stuck around because nobody wanted him in any realistic way.

And, ironically, I think Weid can get above TMac quickly in the pecking order.

The only thing TMac has on Weid is that he has actually done something… another reason why Sam didn’t move on - he has got no runs on the board at a new club that picks him up on the cheap. They would not hesitate to discard if things aren’t happening quickly.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
