Might be a few less members next year after our disappointing final series.

If we recruit well and start the season strongly, we will be fine.
win a few more at The MCG would certainly help

Seems the Grand Final Guarantee has gone up from $229 to $298 in 2023.

Bit stiff given our 2021 success was in WA and we fizzled out this year.

i'm yet to find out if the gfg is still mandatory for all reserved seat options.....as it was last year

i buy an extra 2 tickets for grandkids and i'll be [censored] if i will pay an extra $298 x 3 on top of a reserved seat charge

the gfg doesn't even pay for a seat at the gf, just the option. i think the gfg is a bit of a rort for all the clubs. they have lots of other options to decide priority levels for members.

Agreed it's a bit of a rort but I'm an Restricted MCC Member so I i'd have a very low chance of attending a Grand Final in the Reserve so need to rely on my usual add-ons to have a chance going to the big dance.

So each year on top of the MCC Membership I get the following

  • MFC/MCC Premium Member Add-On ($225)
  • GFG ($229)

So I definitely support the club with the above, just this increase sits a little uneasy with me.

well this season they wouldn't sell me my reserved seat (i've had for over 10 years) anymore without the extra gfg.

coming off the flag and hoping for a 2peat i thought oh well, what the heck, why not

I’m assuming you’re aware of these membership costs due to a notification about auto renewals?

I can’t seen any info about 2023 memberships anywhere on the site. Am I missing something?

Received an email about the auto renewal of the GFG this afternoon.

Yep, I received such email today.

I am paying extra 50 AUD for my renewal.

No.

I spoke to membership depart last week. Among other things they said 2023 membership etc costs won't be available till mid October. Yesterday I got confirmation of the cost of my roll over membership.  I am not surprised the membership costs are rising it goes with being successful. The choice? pay more for belonging to a successful club or pay less for following an unsuccessfully club. I have spent way too many years with the later. First one please

I understand that you are 'miffed' with the price increase.

My Platinum membership has increased by $45 to $690 and I don't have any qualms about that given that, to my understanding, similar memberships at clubs such as Richmond, Essendon, Pies, Dogs etc are many $100's more (with a long waiting list).

A couple of my Dogs-supporting mates dropped their premium membership after the club radically changed the cost and entitlements of their membership following their 2016 flag.

The Tigers did likewise following their 2017 premiership.

It's supply and demand, but I reckon our premium membership packages which include a gfg are reasonably priced.

I'd look at Premium Member Packages If i wasn't already paying $615 for the MCC.

I am happy to support the club with the MFC/MCC Premium add on even though I personally don't get much value from that.

Just needed a little vent, will cost me minimum $1,138 next year if you add both memberships and the GFG.

Date of first game of season Home or Away

As the 'auto' pay memberships have rolled over is it time to start the 2023 thread?

The club website is still showing the 2022 figure but it can only be a matter of time before the 2023 figures appear.

Love your confidence LH.

As they say in the classics 'Let's start at the beginning'. The MFC Company Secretary in his affidavit last month before the Victorian Supreme Court said "there are approximately 59,700 MFC members (this differs from the number of 66,484 published on the AFL website due to several individuals holding multiple memberships)"

Big reason why, even though I'm a proud Demon Army member, I'm keeping my Redlegs alive.  It has always had the GFG if Melbourne are participating.

all reserved seats still have the mandatory gfg charge

this also means that the total no. of reserved seats is limited to the no. of allowed gfgs (about 12k i believe)

i heard a rumour that mfc were looking for more reserved seats in the nw and w areas, but the membership staff didn't know about this.

so i just changed my 3 memberships to ga not reserved seats

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
