I wonder how much we sold at the G on Sunday ...

Does the club get the money for sales from the MCG shop? I hope so because that place was packed

Directly, no.

The MCG is controlled by the MCG Trust who have leased the MCG to the MCC.

Naturally the MCG Shop can only sell licensed products, in this case AFL products, so some of the money will come back indirectly via the AFL.

I think.

That's what I thought which is a shame. The ckub would've made a mint yesterday if they had merch to sell but I understand they're still waiting on most items to be restocked.

Yep if they had more premiership merch on sale, they would have sold out 3 times over.

The shop was packed and empty.

I was impulse buying stuff I absolutely do not need.

Finally got my posters framed. Quite happy. Frames from eBay.

Um did you order anything?

Jumper, Hat, T Shirt, Hoodie.

Perhaps it went to La Dee-vina Comedia in error....

Not sure if others have had the same problem but my Premiers hoodie arrived today and it's black, not navy as per the picture.

Spoke to the club and they're aware of the issue. Apparently some of the jumper orders came back in a traditional navy, while others were in a darker 'ink blue' colour or something. Whatever it's called, it's not blue in any way, either close up or from a distance. It looks like an Essendon jumper.

Will be swapping for something else.

Finally received order after placing it on 26th. What a disaster.

stubby holder - no bottom?!

the shipment didn’t have the youth cap ordered for my son in time for Christmas

the premiers hat (grey one) is an horrible fit - it’s like some WW2 German Panzer gunner’s hat from a Spike Milligan novel. I had to check screen caps from Indiana Jones to check I wasn’t over egging things - nope. Gave that to my son so awaiting a black Premiers New Era one instead but alas no hats

pretty poor experience with zero communication from the shop without prodding

Got my last order delivered that was the $2k framed jumper which the courier simply left on the front porch in plain sight while we were not home. Not impressed & lucky that some porch pirate didn't walk off with it. Had to get my son to send off an email as the certificate of authenticity inside the box was torn due to poor packing. They placed one of the corners of the frame hard up against it. Another certificate being sent out which l am happy about. The jumper does look pretty spectacular, though. As for the stubby holders, cheap & nasty idea not to put a bottom on them.

I just assumed that that was the colour it was meant to be.

Did they mention whether it can be returned/exchanged for the real colour?

I highly suggest finding your original order confirmation email(s) and just reply to that politely inquiring about the status of your order. Two of my orders shipped within a day or two of doing just that and I don’t believe that it was a coincidence.

I think the beanies were holding up my orders initially but they were already in stores for a week before I sent my emails.

They're happy to exchange but they won't necessarily have the navy in the correct size. They didn't for me.

Apparently the same thing happened with some of the Mark Knight hoodies. The Mark Knight I've got is navy, but the wrong size, and when I asked about swapping it, she said they've only got it in the black in that size. Pretty annoying.

Still waiting for the guernsey and the white New Balance t-shirt, and happy with the scarf and beanie, but otherwise underwhelmed by the premiership apparel, and will be happy to swap the 2 hoodies for some proper New Balance 2022 gear when it becomes available.

The Mark Knight hoodie is pretty poor quality.

There’s a hardcover edition?

Yep, I found that out during a visit to the Demon Shop on Sunday at the Premiership Celebration. Had already ordered it via afl.com.au without the choice of hardcover 😡.

I ordered through the AFL site too. I would not have bought the softcover if I knew there was a hardcover.

I too am waiting for the white New Balance. I believe it is the final item I have that still hasn’t shipped.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
