Hey for those with the Blu-ray of the GF, do you hear an echo with the umpire’s mic in the 1st quarter (channel 7 audio)?

It’s only for the 1st quarter and the audio issue doesn’t occur with Youtube replays of the GF (which I watch far too many times to my family’s bewilderment).

The 3rd and 4th quarters are fine (didn’t check the 2nd quarter haha).

Is there a trick to get to the other calls ? If i choose aw  i still get 7

My Blu-ray changes to the other commentaries.

(Mind you I didn’t select it from the menu and selected the audio via the Blu-ray player’s remote.)

Do you have the umpire mic echo issue on yours?

Not sure but a good excuse to watch again

On the main screen I selected the Sen audio and then played the game and it worked fine

Finally got my stuff today, I thought it would be and I'd just arrived home to see it being thrown over the front gate.

Has anyone got the DVD Victory Pack. Is the picture good if you use your Bluray player to upscale the DVD picture?

Cheers

It doesn't matter whether you use the Blu-ray player or the TV to do upscaling - there's still only a 720x576i picture to work with. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear through upscaling.

Far better to just watch the replays through afl.com.au (or through the AFL app if you need to AirPlay/Chromecast to the big screen) which are 1. free and 2. 1280x720p...

(As an aside, the Herald Sun shop finally got my mug to me 😄)

I thought the victory pack would include the bluray? Lucky I got both! The full season pack  inludes the GF in both DVD and Blu-ray I believe

So it appears to be the consensus that it's no use buying the Victory Pack with only DVD quality. Probably wait until next year or after when the pack is discounted right down. I see the Tigers 2020 Victory Pack now sells for about $25 and their 2017 pack for about $5!

I have the game(s) on my Foxtel IQ so have HD available at present

Picture is ok playing the DVD in a blu-ray player, but there is quite a noticeable difference in picture quality when watching the GF Blu-ray Disc.

Sorry I am a bit confused. Does the Victory Pack have the GF in Bluray and the other two games and Season Highlights in DVD or are all 4 discs in the Victory Pack all DVD?

Cheers

Victory pack has all 3 finals games in DVD format.

I ordered the GF separately in Blu-Ray as well, and the difference is quite noticeable (even when watching the DVD in a blu-ray player).

You won’t be disappointed! The T is so well made; of a much higher quality than the others.

Very interesting! Does it have Jaguar on the back? I might've missed it but thought their sponsorship was due to expire at the end of 2021. Might just be that they've re-signed but not announced it yet?

I am actually surprised at this announcement. Not because we are not worthy but because the Jag group have lost considerable market share over the last two years. There sales have tanked substantially and I wondered if cost cuts might be the end of the MFC sponsorship. Obviously not. They are changing to all electric so perhaps they see us as a good vehicle to show off their new  electric cars.

I've done the same as you, I was rather annoyed when I got the Victory Pack and when I played the GF the lines on the ground were shimmering and distorted. I got 4 packs that cost me over $600n and not only is the picture poor, the umpires voices are muffled like they are in a tunnel.

I've got the Blue Ray copies but haven't seen them yet because they were delivered to my son.

As iterated elsewhere, I purchased the whole season package from Sanity which comprises EVERY ONE of our games throughout the 2021 season. The finals are in BLU RAY Format and at $ 144.95 to me it is the "Investment of a lifetime"

Also with it is a retrospective "Highlights" package as well! I'm Happy!😁

That shimmering sure puts you off.  I went and bought a blu ray player and it wasnt much better till I upped the resolution to 1080 (isnt that a poison?)

My local Sanity has 50% off everything but the chance of it having AFL is very remote.

All the finals are in bluray? It's just the GF isnt it?

I've got the GF bluray and the victory pack but won't shell out for the season pack if the quality isn't that great.  I found copies online of every game in 1080p including multiple commentary tracks for the QF and didn't have to pay a cent. It's only just over 200GB in total too so you could fit it on 4 or 5 Blu-ray discs (50gb each I think). Surely the AFL/distributors can give us some better quality asking us to pay in excess of $100.

Can you tell me where you found it, I'd like to get it as a back up.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
