Watching the replay, we made Daniel look like a clown in the second half. Our mids were breaking away from him repeatedly.

2.30am, and the best part of half a Talisker single malt in, did that second half really happen?

Just watching the replay again. The after match. Great reception from the WA supporters. How wonderful that our team could have such a great reception.

And those kids giving the medals! Man, I hope they remember this. Such a special occasion. What luck to be in that situation.

Well done, WA Demons. Thank you! The team deserved your support and you delivered.

One for the ages. The drought broken and the WA Demons were the ones on hand to enable the celebrations.

Thank you again and ....

GO DEMONS!!!

Can confirm rewatching the whole match it was just as good the second time!! When Max and Goody lifted the cup, the boys ran onto the stage, confetti flying everywhere and It’s a grand old flag blasting- it sent literal chills down my spine! Amazing day! Good night premiers!!

Does the footy season have to end? What are we going to do for the next 6 months?

Watch, from our (very) high horse, 17 other teams try to set themselves up to be like us.

This group is special.

For a minute I thought you were talking about the posters on Dland. Then I realised it wasn't a capital S.

I cringed one year when a player totally ignored the kid in an 'all about me' moment, and haven't been able to watch since, until I made myself tonight. And our boys honoured the kids so well, to a man. Yet another 'tick' for this team.

Censor me all you like but I [censored] love you guys !!!! I don’t think I’ve been this ecstatic in my life ever before !!!!

I was so nervous the first time. Just finished watching the replay. Sobbing. Ecstatic. Enamoured. Overawed. I want to go out and celebrate. I want to walk through the streets singing the song j till my voice is gone. What an amazing team we've built. I can't wait until we can all gather together to honour them

That was the first grand final I've been to.  That was [censored] incredible.

I've never experienced something like those last 10 minutes in the third quarter. The demon crowd was going nuts.

Thanks again @Dante for the barcode

I still want to know why Goodwin didn't make a speech

It looked like he was about to move towards the mic then that [censored] Basil "Fawlty" Zempilas missed his cue and started calling up Gaz to present the cup

How bloody well did Gus speak, great interview.

Phenomenal performance by him I thought, left nothing out there and was on from the first siren. Well done Gus, you were a star tonight 👏

That end-of-3rd-quarter call by Brayshaw: 'Bang, Bang, Bang!'

Indeed.

25 September 2021 encapsulated.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
