Flag Favourites 3019 115 Posted September 25, 2021 Posted September 25, 2021 I've been driving my car around South Perth all morning with the windows down, volume on max playing Grand Old Flag - Dees plates and scarves also on display. The buzz is alive! 1 1 Quote

Cassiew 1,903 Posted September 26, 2021 Posted September 26, 2021 I just heard this on the radio. Bought a tear to my eye. Thought if the. It’s and how hard they fought to do this for us: 2 Quote
bringbackthebiff 658 Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 New favourite album - 2021 AFL grand final. Starts off really solid. Killer tracks at the 3/4 mark, then a brilliant finish. And like any great album, initially the songs you didn’t like (second quarter) seem to get better the more you listen to them. 1 Quote
In Harmes Way 7,870 Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 (edited) Just saw this chap interviewed on AFL tonight- he’s done a great job of a Dees flavoured rewrite of a Paul Kelly classic. Nice job Fraser if you’re on DL. https://www.instagram.com/tv/[censored]-VnwtX4R/?utm_medium=share_sheet Edited September 27, 2021 by In Harmes Way Quote

Dr. Gonzo 24,468 Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 All the music talk on the usernames thread got me thinking about this one from last year - one of my favourite threads on Demonland. Post what's currently on your playlist here. And if anyone has a spare hour or two and wants to indulge in a musical masterpiece give these two tracks by Boris a listen. Quote
Guest Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 The song from which I borrowed my username… https://youtu.be/CP36YVfcjn0 It’s from the album “Deserter’s Songs” by Mercury Rev, a band whose music features frequent use of the theremin, a musical instrument that just doesn’t get enough love. (Think, the very distinctive sound about 20 seconds into “Good Vibrations” by the Beach Boys.) MR use the theremin so much better than that though. Imho anyways. I don’t like the Beach Boys so of course MR do it better 😁 Quote

Guest Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 (edited) No I haven’t, but I’ll defs watch it. Thanks @Dr. Gonzo 👍🏽 All I know is it was created in the late 1800s by a man named Leon Theremin. And I know this because my firstborn is named Leon and he used to tell everyone that he was named after this guy. Not a cool Leon like Leon Spinks or Leon Trotsky. But Leon Theremin. 🤷♀️ Edited October 21, 2022 by WalkingCivilWar Quote
Brownie 6,086 Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 I've watched John Spencer make rock and roll love to the theremin One of the great live performances on live TV, ABC recovery. 2 Quote
