Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well done Brendan Smith on getting our first medal of the games with Bronze in the 400IM.

Finished like a freight train again, however unfortunately gave up just a bit too much of a lead.

He'll be better equipped in 3 years time TD ... out of contention for gold once they hit the breaststroke leg but as you said, flew home

Rated 50th in the world 12 months ago so it's a meteoric rise.  Needed the experience but that's ok

A bronze medal is something to be proud of!

Seeing we're on a new page ...

Jack McLoughlin just misses out on our first gold but swims a great race to grab a silver medal. Amazing swim from the Tunisian out in lane 8 for gold!

Elijah was disappointing and Mack Horton looking on might have fancied his chances

Still, we weren't the raging favourite to take out the event so Jack taking out the silver is a mighty effort

Not sure we are going to have it all our way in the 4 x 100m freestlyle relay (womens) ... should win but we've got some tough opposition who may not have shown their hand

Gold for Australia! Our womens 4x100m Freestyle relay team become the first team to break 3 minutes 30 seconds, smashing their own world record! Giving us the full set of medals on our first day in the pool.

Meanwhile well done to the Hockeyroos with with a 3-1 victory first up against Spain. And our Softballers and Ash Barty are currently locked in some tight matches.

Our Softballers have lost a heart breaker to the USA 2-1 in extra innings. A mighty effort given their heavy defeat yesterday to Canada.

Simple scenario for them now. Win their next match against Mexico and a bronze medal is still there for the taking.

Clancy & Del Solar get a first up win over Cuba in the women's beach volleyball 21-15, 21-14. Made to work for it at times, but overall just too much class.

And in other news in a massive shock, Ash Barty has been knocked out of the singles in straight sets in the first round!

I watched a reasonable amount of Ash's match and she wasn't on her game today

So the surprises can work both ways as I had Ash as at least making the semi's ... but the Hockeyroos are off to a great start and our rowers are well placed.  Beach Volleyball as well but the softballers had a close loss

There are going to be some ups and downs ... bit of a rollercoaster really

James Duckworth has managed to get through to the 2nd round in the tennis with a hard fought 3 set win. Good to see him continue the solid form from a few weeks  ago that saw him get through to the 3rd round at Wimbledon.

Our mens water polo team just got beat 15-10 by Montenegro.

Were up 7-6 at half time, so the 2nd half was a bit of a white wash. Not sure how much was Montenegro being really good or the Sharks defense getting really loose?

Great gold medal by the girls in the pool. Will be watching Titmus closely tonite. We should win basketball against Nigeria but the soccer will be hard. Often there is a drop off from a big win and Spain will be ready for us.

Nice win by the Boomers first up against Nigeria with an 84-65 victory.

A bit sloppy in their offence at times, but their defense is first class and will go a long way to a potential medal.

Got what we needed out of the swimming heats tonight. We go into tomorrow morning with two genuine gold medal chances in Emma McKeon in the 100m fly and Titmus in the 400m free. Plus our mens 4x100m Freestyle relay team, who may be unlikely for gold, but are certainly a medal contender.

Meanwhile the Kookubarras demolished India 7-1. Didn't get to see any of it, but that's a significant win as India are a very talented hockey team.

Olyroos did well to hang on for so long against Spain.  Conceded late but 3 of our players have now been ruled out of the match against Egypt after receiving yellow cards

Win against Egypt and we advance but draw and we may miss

Although I'm not sure whether Argentina will hold out against Spain ... bit of a class difference as I see it

And Harry Garside has advanced to the last 16 in the boxing (Lightweight division) He looked alright too,  winning all 3 rounds.  A southpaw with a bit of style

Edit:  Had a look at Harry Garside's profile and he won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth games and lists his hero as Jim Stynes ( Harry has done a bit of volunteer work for the Reach foundation)

Can we assume that Harry is a Demon supporter?

Congratulations to Emma McKeon on a fine swim to claim bronze in the 100m Butterfly, was not far off at all swimming a new PB.

Yesterday we got a medal of every color in the pool. Here's hoping we'll do the same today.

In a shock of the Ash Barty type. Our mens Rugby 7's team has lost their opening match to Argentina 29-19. This puts them in serious danger of missing the Quarter Finals.

They have South Korea again later today who they should beat comfortably,  however they'll need to beat New Zealand tomorrow to be any chance of progressing.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
