Sit down.

So here I am advocating for freedom if speech and not slinging at demondlanders.

I wasn't someone who exaggerated the poor performances of our players in the game thread. I wish those who posted what @Deefiant complained about, had the fortitude to stand up for their own opinions. Probably not in their personality set, easier to remain seated.

You and @Pollyanna tell me to not voice my opinion.

What a joke you are. If I you don't think like you, then I am a waste of your time.

Narrowed minded, self righteous fools.

Sit down means, shut up, remain unseen. You cannot control everything mate. Perhaps you should try and put that mirror up to yourself.

Bloody rusted on insiders of Demonland. Glad you pointed out the hierarchy and how new members are not welcome to have an opinion that is different to yours.

The beauty of the block button @kev martin is that you can still engage in a thread whilst not having to engage with others.

Anyway, I like talking about the process of talking to one another.... and this youtube clip is the strongest evidence yet for the 'block button... use it as whimsically as you like :)

The ‘sit down’ remark was a referential joke to an earlier post of mine about Land being a pub full of Dees supporters.

Ironically, I was defending a poster from other posters just like you are doing here on your own behalf.

Post what you like, ignore who you like as EO says (although I am usually good value), all I was attempting to do is point out the irony (even hypocrisy) of having a go at Deefiant for taking some OTT reactions of posters on here.

Welcome to Demonland

You seem confused kev.

You're the champion of free speech except when @Deefiant and @rpfc exercise their rights to it

I am an advocate for free speech, however there are consequences for your words and support for or against them.

I support the those who make game statements, though the humiliation of those in order to make them sit down, I do not agree with.

Make fun of them, sure, but not with the intention of shutting them up.

If deefiant wants to change the posters, he could do it by posting logical assertions, not just the posting what he disagrees with.

I felt that needed a response, let them have an opinion.

I goes round and round.

A conflicting opinion is not a measure of censorship.

Though saying "sit down" is.

I tried ignore once, their post still showed on the thread.

I like your posts, except for the "sit down", statement.

So easy to misinterpret statements, glad it wasn't an attack on my right to express myself.

Wish deefiant would stand up for his own opinion, as those from the game thread could.

What a lovely, insightful video.

Thanks @Engorged Onion

I like engaging in all manners of discussions.

There are very few I don't get something from.

The consequences for those exercising their right to free speech in the Gameday thread was for @Deefiant to highlight their inaccuracy in the aftermath of the match outcome.

But you don't like those consequences of free speech.

Thought he was going a bit further than that,

Kind of indicating that they shouldn't post that type of banter.

MFCSS is still alive and well. Based on the evidence on the first half of the season I don't think we should be losing faith in the boys. Here are some handpicked selection of the worst.

"Can we do "changes next week" already?"

"We're not winning this. Brisbane is leagues ahead of the rest of the league atm."

"Sportsbet paying 3.50 on lions 40+"

"We just have too many ordinary footballers. No way we are winning a flag this year. Typical Melbourne, pump up your tyres, then deflate you when the crunch comes. So disappointing."

"Time to give pickett a rest , keeps going to ground softly and it’s starting to become costly "

"And sorry to say but a decades long Achilles heel has been brought to the fore tonight. We lack the mongrel to deal with a pack of dirty bastards like the Lions. "

"We can't win this"

"The challenge is to keep it as a "close loss""

"Fu***** disgrace Melbourne. You should be ashamed of yourselves. [censored] weak all round"

While I agree Weideman did not have a great game I feel these comments are over the top:

"(Weideman) Should never play another game for MFC again. Find another club son"

"Absolute disgrace. I'm off Weideman. He's [censored] useless"

Finally, a few snippets of the positivity coming through:

"Wrist slashing time from all the posters above.

god help us. What will you all say if we get up ?"

"QB moved. I hate this state right now. I'll apologise for saying that later "

Show us all of the "positivity" you posted last season in games we were then belted in.

And Jesus Christ, what sort of person spends his afternoon copying/pasting anonymous comments from a supporter forum just so he can have a win in life?

He is asking what type of person, not don't post.

Also asking for something that is human nature of jumping on board disappointing results and wondering if deefiant can swim against the current.

Gee stuck on an issue, and trying to embarrass someone with a different view to you.

Faulty never expressed anything about freedom of speech anyway.

That is my issue.

Dragging up old posts by the dozen simply to big note yourself is not free speech. It's trolling.

If you feel that way, why did you support the statement, "Sit down"?

That is someone saying your views aren't welcome.

This thread reminds me of something Groucho Marx said in a Marx Brothers movie!

" I dont care to belong to any club that would have me as a member"

There it is again.

Hidden behind your humour is some truth you wish to impart.

You don't what my kind on board.

I've been told to "sit down", to be blocked, that I must be new (no right to express my view).

Why are my views so unpalatable?

Supported by another, @Left Foot Snap.

I can understand boring, but not welcome!

You poor, insular, delicates.

So I am a troll now? Good to know…

Good lord, this reminds me of some of the internecine ‘conversations’ we would have on here with hangon007, or Dr Who, or their incarnates where consternation would be created and then these antagonists would wax lyrical about their ability to ‘speak freely’ or ‘not be trodden on’ by the literati on Demonland.

Post what you like, but if you don’t want people to react to what you post - go and start a blog and disable the comments.

Your out are you, or taking your own advice and sitting down.

He wasn't calling you a troll, I think he was referring to deefiant.

Geeze, "literati", that's a laugh in itself.

Mate, stop ostracising. Your closed group is not what you imagine.

Anyone can join and your constant put downs cannot change that.

You know me because you had the same run in with 007 and who.

Could be about your superiority complex and the need to close the open door so you feel safe from opinions you don't agree with.

There you go, telling people to leave "your" group alone again.

Wow, you want only your kind to make any noise.

Who is we? Is that the inner circle, group think people.

I thought all of  the “what they’re saying...” threads were just for a chuckle. I for one love them. No names were added to the post so it wasn’t shaming anyone.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.
