I just want to say that as a Jewish person, I am disgusted at what has gone on in that community. A community that I have purposefully distanced myself from. But I can tell you categorically that the large majority of the Jewish community are furious. The video of the party was leaked and sent to authorities by the community. The $350,000 of collective fines and the massive contract tracing efforts have only been made possible because good law abiding members of that community were not willing to protect these idiots.

The outrage is real and I hope that the greater Victorian community can see that those people are a minority of selfish [censored] who use their religious radicalism to justify their [censored] behaviour in all walks of life.

I for one am outraged that people did this. I don’t care what category, for lack of a better word, of people. Just people.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. A tiny percentage of idiots doesn’t represent the entire group. These ppl are selfish idiots regardless of race, religion, nationality etc.

I totally agree with this. But I think it's important to note, since it's been widely reported that the people who held the engagement party are Jewish, that they are a minority. Unfortunately the orthodox and ultra orthodox community are mostly insular and selfish and they don't really care about what happens outside of their walls. But they are a minority within the larger Jewish community, and I just want to point that out because I've seen a lot of hate online for the community at large, and that is just simply unfair.
Many leaders of the community have stood up and spoken out against these people, which is something we haven't seen from any other cultural or religious group that have also breached restrictions in the past.

People are trash. People who use their religion or cultural heritage to justify their trash behaviour are even worse.

I've just about had enough of everyone!

OK so the GF will almost definitely be lost to another state. But at the rate we’re going we (fans) won’t be permitted to gather somewhere to watch it on a big screen together. This is largely due to the selfishness of a small minority whose actions impact us all.

As I keep saying, Airlie Beach has a good sized AFL oval with room for a pie and coffee van. And the new bar is almost finished construction.

Plenty of accommodation here. I can even put up some of you dirty Melbournians if needed.

I’d be flat out with work for (at least) the next 12 months. And you know who’d be paying for the service, right? Yep, his poor maid.

I was so angry when I saw that video on Twitter last night. I live literally in Ripponlea village. The orthodox community surround us. My partner has MS and is in a high risk category (double jabbed thanks to the wonders of medical science). This is not even the fifth time members of these communities have been caught doing the wrong thing.

From what I see on Twitter, backing up what you said here Jaded, the broader Jewish community are FURIOUS about this. They have already begun naming and shaming all the people recognisable in that video (one of them was a DOCTOR!). They won’t stand for it, but nor should they. It was outrageously selfish behaviour.

Good luck to the couple involved now. You won’t be able to Google them for 25 years without learning about this. 21st century justice.

One thing I think our club does well, especially factoring in our budget and resources, is being innovative with trying to look after the fans. The virtual Bluey, AGM (might not have been the AGM, but we had a virtual club presentation I recall), even little things like the MFC cookies and vouchers the club handed out at Perth airport to Dees fans rocking up to the prelim in 2018. I reckon they'd already be throwing together ideas for ways to connect with the fans or have some kind of experience options that will suit the restrictions at the time. Could be something like a watch party even.

And if not, MFC here's your chance to start planning something of the sort so that us fans can at least 'virtually' connect with each other during the finals games. *cough* GIbbo *cough*

Sadly I think we are just going to have to suck it up. Celebrating in our lounge rooms is probably as good as it gets in 2021.

If asked whether I'd take this as the only option to see a Premiership any time in the last 50+ years, of course I'd say "yes". Who wouldn't? So, let's hope we do get to celebrate!

Possibly, but Gibbo is currently our media guy, photographer, runner and probably more, so wouldn't be surprised if he's on top of this stuff and has something in the works.

Yeah, considering they don’t seem fussed by what type of vaccine they take. (There’s no anti-AZ sentiment there.) I’m guessing this is why they have so much Pfizer that’s close to use-by date.

Agree WCW I was surprised as well. Until around mid July, Poland was tracking well numbers wise and then the dialy numbers fell off a cliff.

Just goes to show how hard it is getting that last 30% of the population to have the jab

Without physical contact everything just feels like putting band aids on a 300mm gash.

I wonder how hard it would be to connect the big screens at the MCG to a zoom for fans to be able to attend and support from home so at least the players can have real time cheering from fans.

If say members can log onto a host service and have it on while they watch the game from home, and cheer on the players in real time?

Maybe the cheer squads can also be allowed to put up flags and banners around the ground for both sides?

Yeah it sucks mate. We'll all just possibly have to save up the hugs and high fives for the first time the pubs open up 100%. Perhaps the club could organize a replay event (should we even get to the GF) at the Victoria Sporting Globe venues?

Apparently the older Poles in general are rather reluctant to get vaxxed, especially those in the many little villages. In Warsaw the rates are pretty good. The younger generations are keen to be vaccinated.

Looks like WA is firming as the place. I'm not against it is a good venue and will be nuetral for both teams (pending a freo/wce miracle) Only Ol mate Mcgowan could stop it happening with a quote from todays paper . Does he not know the timeline of effectiveness for the vaccine? and the difference between 1 and 2 shots. Also clubs would be reluctant to get the players jabbed this close to games they do have side effects that can knock you about for a few days.

McGowan said it would also be a “wise” call for the AFL to have all players vaccinated ahead of any matches being held in Perth.

I'm not sure about Perth, the weather's a bit dodgy.

What happens to the grand final if COVID hits Perth during grand final week and McGowan orders the game to be played with no fans. It's happened twice this year.

What's the continency plan then?

WA government still pays the guaranteed fee unless AFL have bad lawyers

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
