sorta wanted a place we can all dump some potential names of interest across the competition to strengthen the side. just been spitballing in my head came up with a couple:

a small forward who tackles AND kicks goals, got McDonald-Tippungwuti front of the queue with 1 yr to go on his current deal, could be gettable given the two sides trajectories

wingman: either of whitfield or jkelly not sure about the getability tho especially with the money jelly is tied on and whitfields length of deal but maybe one might fall out to accomodate the other

half back: recently learnt jordon dawson was OOC and it caught my attention. might keep an eye on how he plays next couple weeks just see what he's like as a mature HB option we could look at. also eddy rich at the dogs has had some clubs ask the question and would suit a need but maybe less proven at the level to date

half forward: lipinski, too good to play vfl but at full strength seems to be on the fringes at the doggies so they can fit 12 mids in, certainly an improvement on melky in terms of touches and delivery but mayve less scoreboard impact, could also see harmes move to this role when all our side is availabvle.

We have a small forward (Laurie) and half back (Bowey) in waiting, hopefully.

I do think we lack another quick outside mid type though. Whitty or Jelly a bit ambitious however!

Bont.

Future second and a bedroom to rent in Trac’s house gets it done

Also worth nothing who we might lose, at least in terms of trade/cap currency in the context of this thread.

One of TMac or Weid will be gone. Nibbler not signed up yet and there's been persistent rumours about him going back to SA for a long time (personally I think he'll stay).

Generous I would have thought adonski.

Part of McDonald's resurgence actually means he has okay trade currency too

free agent is our best chance to add immediate best 11 quality, but no idea what salary cap room we have available

zerrett from the peptides is the obvious target

other options are less appealing on the free agency market, but i'd rank the next top five as:

  • marcus bontempelli (footscray)
  • cam guthrie (geelong)
  • jake kelly (gw$)
  • jack billings (aints)
  • jake kolodjashnij (geelong)

would happily add any of those six named to our side, and would argue that all bar the last two would be in our top dozen players

Yep exactly. Teams might come knocking this year as opposed to not returning our calls last year.

Billing’s ?

Billing's one of the more uninspiring players in the comp but part of me actually thinks we'd get the best out of him with our players

Zac Guthrie.... FFS might as well get Burns out of retirement, he would offer more. Guys a complete flop.

Reckon he means Cam? At least I hope he does.

Couldn’t afford Bont but doubt he would even consider leaving the doggies. I’d say from the list above that Merrett is the obvious target.

Whitfield j Kelly whilst would be great don’t strike me as someone willing to take a pay cut to come to us for some success.

our list balance is reasonably good. I’d like to see some recruitment of a young KP backman to succeed May in a few years. Maybe target Weitering, Maynard or Sicily.

He is everything we don’t need.  He is no urgency in his game at all

Free agent, we would get compensation though.

Contracted til end of next year mate.

Yeah I've noticed that too. Just think there's a world out there where he could be a really good icing on the top type player.

other than zerrett and kelly i think the others would be perfect role-players for what we want, but all will likely command far more $s than we would likely have spare given the signing spree to begin 2021

of those ooc for us, only anb and weed and must-signs for mine

i have faith that our salary cap management is not like the filth

Gees imagine getting The Bont.
Dreaming I know.

Isn't Pickett staying with Trac, I thought Spargo was as well. Full house, no dice

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
