They are deliberately making it difficult surely.. Trying to book a ticket for me and 5yr old... I have no idea if we're under cover or not.

The seating algorithm promotes crowding

Amazing

I just don't get it.

Sutton comes out yesterday to complain that complacency has crept back into society, re: COVID.

And yet he ticks off having level 4 of the Southern, Olympic, and Ponsford stands closed, which as you say promotes crowding.

Sunday should get 45,000, and with the top levels closed, there won't be many empty seats in the lower levels, and thus no social distancing.

So that means we will be changing our playing strip to avoid a clash dc?

just announced that the latest infection case travelled home on the football train from the Geelong v Richmond game.

You couldn't script it

Victorian contact tracers are working with the AFL to track down hundreds of fans who attended the blockbuster clash between Richmond and Geelong last Friday and then travelled on the same train as a Wollert man who has tested positive to COVID-19.

Health Minister Martin Foley said the two clubs were helping contact members and supporters who travelled to or from the game on the same train as the infected man.

DJ two weeks ago my wife and I spent 2 nights in the city seeing the Harry Potter play with one of our grand daughters. We stayed 2 nights in a hotel and also visited the aquarium and 2 restaurants. We tried on every occasion to use the Vic qr system on every occasion it was rejected. Saying we are not part of this system. It was not just my phone my wife's phone got the same result. Then today I see the government saying people are not using their qr system. What a bad joke it appears to me that  retailers are not  on it. It appears to me we are once again let down by poor public service action or lack of it. And people wonder why  a lot are loath to go to large public gatherings.

I really wish people would wear masks on the packed trains to and from the football like the LAW says you should.

Less than 10% of people are wearing masks, and I just don't get why. It is always crowded on those trains, how hard is it to slap a mask on?

FFS the complacency of so many is going to really screw us. And I don't know why nobody is monitoring it either. We should have people on trains, especially footy trains, ensuring mask compliance.

At the moment with 0 new cases beyond this one returned traveller, it seems unlikely the crowds will be cancelled. We know the risk of being outdoors is super minimal.

On a happier note a new member (Sandra) on the general board has asked if anyone has a knitting pattern for a demon's jumper for her dog.

Thought it deserved mention

Have my ticket for Sunday and will probably go to Casey on Saturday for my first bacon and egg roll fix of the year

It's the old " it won't happen to me" thing. The biggest let down of the human race Jaded.

Us country folk are good law abiding citizens Jaded. I’ve been on the train into Spencer st station from the wilds of Woodend these past 2 weeks (first time in the office in 15 months) and there has been less then 10 people without them on.
One likely looking lad this morning wearing his Harley leathers covered in Tatts, I assumed he’d gotten lost on the way to The Manor but was to busy avoiding eye contact to ask.

I catch either the Frankston or Pakenham trains to the footy (the only time I ever catch public transport each week mind you), and hardly nobody wears masks. I would have expected at least Melbourne supporters, being generally smart, educated and aware of how likely they are to be caught up in tragedy, would be wearing them. Sadly, that is not the case.

Put a mask on. Even without Covid, people are disgusting, winter and flu season is almost here, and the trains are filled with loud spitting folks. Don't you want to avoid getting sick? Especially during a pandemic, being sick with anything flu-like is just a pain.

Sorry I only just saw this.

Real good seats on half forward flank Punt Rd end members side, but I think you just might miss cover. 4 or 5 rows behind you are probably undercover from memory. Should be all Dees there usually!

I was in Row T for the Sydney game, we were getting very light mist.

WNW wind on Sunday you might be right but being in the G the wind will swirl around a bit.

Yeap that is why I chose it so the little guy can sit in the Dees faithful… last time I took him along (Saints game the year before last) he got bored halfway through the first qtr… I had to take him out to the kids play area out the front and we stayed their for 2.5qrts before leaving haha. Hoping he has more attention span and we have more intestinal fortitude.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
