Danny Seow only kicked two goals in his seven games for Melbourne and they're both in that first clip!

Up until Peter Bell he was the greatest Asian footballer of all time.

(Sam Pang rated himself top 5 )

I loved the Mullet era.

Ricky Jackson,Stinga, Grinter ,Sugar,Lyon,Stynes,Newport,Strawbs,TC ,Stretchmarks,Lovett etc .

What a great team.

Steve Tingay came on and with his first kick won the game. What a start to a marvelous career.

I noticed how often the ball was kicked long into attack and came back out just as fast. Nothing has changed in over 30 years.

Very special game for me.

A very ordinary game saved by first gamer Tingays winning goal.

Like many, I became a Melbourne supporter as a direct result of being taken to games by my Dad.

By the time this game came around my Dad was failing in health. I remember the difficulty of getting him from the car in Yarra Park to the ground. Stopping every few metres to catch his breath.

But we won the game. I knew at that time that Dad was probably not going to get to another one.

It was emotional and it was to be my Dads last game.

I carry his spirit with me to every game.

After the massive disappointment of the previous year's Grand Final let down, enthusiasm still resided within, all be it deep and almost dormant.

Got there just before the start of the game and unwisely decided to forego the purchase of a Season's ticket. (Although ultimately it was to prove was another disappointing season finale).

Don't remember much about the game itself, although Richard Osborne was clearly a threat, but do recall the No. 52, Stephen Tingay's very first kick in league footy. A tremendous snap from a fair distance out, that sailed high through the goal posts for the winner. The excitement in the old Southern Stand standing room area was palpable. Possibly reminiscent of the effect engendered by Kossie Pickett's "X" factor performance last weekend.

Of course Stephen Tingay went on to establish himself as a great warrior for the MFC and a fan favourite. Although his MFC career was markedly effected by footy's and life's vicissitudes.

It's Game Day or has everyone given up. Maybe it is because a prime time Friday game is so rare ... double checks today is Friday ... Come on DL'ers support the team one last time for the year!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
