Hey guys,

I was thinking of taking my 3 littlies tomorrow to the VFL game at the Whitten Oval.

Do I need to get tickets at all or can we just rock up?

  • Whispering_Jack changed the title to VFL Practice Match: Monday 8th March, 2021

All eyes tomorrow at Whitten Oval will be on the small number of Demons and train on would be MFC listers in action against Footscray.

That means the following will be taking part:-

10. Angus Brayshaw

19. Fraser Rosman

36. Kysaiah Pickett

38. Mitch Brown

46. Austin Bradtke

Majak Daw (train on)

Kye Declase (train on)

Kobi Farmer (train on)

Deakyn Smith (train on)

The following players are out this weekend -

3. Christian Salem (rested/managed)

7. Jack Viney (next week at Casey)

13. Clayton Oliver (rested/managed)

14. Michael Hibbert

18. Jake Melksham

21. Marty Hore (long term)

26. Sam Weideman (round 5/6?)

27. Aaron Nietschke (long term)

44. Joel Smith

50. Ben Brown (round 5/6?)

And in a bit of a nutshell, that’s where we’re at.

Think it's possibly closed to the public but check that out.

The report says you can go to both games. I'll be going capacity of 1,000 it says. I'll be looking forward to seeing Kossie and Brayshaw play.

Let’s get started.

I can see, Gus, Kozzie, Petty, Laurie, Majak, Kobe (the Wiz in attendance), Bradtke, Declase, Rosman warming up. Haven’t noticed M. Brown yet although he and Petty look similar from a distance.

So I'm guessing Laurie and Petty aren't playing tonight?

Makes sense, means we are going in with 24 not 26.

Your guess is most likely correct. We’ll see if they get pulled early, no sign of M Brown.

Gus and Pickett starting in middle, Majak and Rosman forward.

Does Kozzie look fit enough to play rd 1 you reckon?

Our defence is working overtime at the moment. We haven’t been poor, Dogs’ pressure is off the charts allowing us no space at all . 22-0 after 15.

He was in everything the first 5 mins or so and running both ways. Was rested after 6 mins and just came back on and has continued working hard. So far he looks fit to me bda.

Majak is getting hands to the ball but struggling to mark, Rosman roved well off the pack and snaps our first, followed quickly by a smart Farmer goal. 23-12

Qtr time dogs 7.7.49 to 2.1.13

They dominated the last ten minutes of that quarter

Quarter time and it’s 49-13 Dogs.

We had a really good patch in the middle of the quarter where the movement was quick and the forward line looked lively. Unfortunately after Kozzie hit the post which would have brought us within a kick the Dogs slammed 4 quick ones to end the term.

Kozzie our best, Farmer very lively up forward and Majak took a couple of strong marks in the end which will do his confidence no harm. Gus looks like he’s doing a lot of strong inside mid work. I was at the forward end but did notice Petty take a nice intercept mark.

A goal to Daw from a free stems the tide finally.

9.7 to 3.2

Dogs have plenty of talent out here Treloar, Richards and more

Daw with his first goal courtesy of a free kick. Unfortunately all Dogs, 61-20

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
