A few points of interest here:

1. Essendon, another Goodwin connection or just raiding one of their deckchairs?

2. No mention if it's part time or full time, the initial plan was part time but that was before confirmation of Egan leaving. I still don't really get it, I'd have though Casey coach and development manager would be a vital coach to have full time even after big cuts.

3. McPherson making the announcement instead of Mahoney

Goodwin wasn't at Ess when Corrigan joined them.  Corrigan took over as coach as their VFL team at the start of this year but there wasn't much of a VFL season.

He seems to have a really solid background in development so from the outside it looks a good appointment.

Mahoney could be on vacation.  Now that the trade period is over he may not be needed much before the draft.

Welcome to the Demons Mark, we already have a number of good young players on our list and will have another 4-6 depending on who Taylor and Co pick up in this years Draft, we are going to need at least 6 young guns to step up in 2021 to help our older brigade out.

So  I and a lot of others here on Demonland will be watching their progress with much anticipation. No Pressure But..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great appointment. He will be fantastic with the young players ...was a very talented player & just a great bloke. I’m really happy we have got him & think he will do well.

Ex Essendon ? There is a slightly foul taste in my mouth. Lets hope he is good.

I really wonder what the role of Casey and similar clubs are these days.

The game at VFL level is miles below the senior level quality wise and you have to question its worth as a true development path.

In the last ten years I can only think of Weid, Petty and Baker who have come through Casey for any length of time. Not a stunning output.

Makes you wonder if there is a better system.

Watched him play many games at South Barwon with his brother Paul who played AFL for Geelong. Geelong Football League was a very high level competition and South Barwon dominated for about 6 years.

Absolute gun at that level, way better than Tom Couch and as good as any player in the comp.

I was lead to believe that he was going to be a Demon as a teenager but did his knee and so was never drafted. Not sure if this is true?

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
