Yeah really surprised he was delisted.  Thought the games I watched him play he was very impressive with his run and dash off half back.

Were those 9 tackles an outlier or is he typically a tackling machine? If typical then he has to get a run in the side sooner rather than later. Forward half pressure is something we’re sorely lacking.

Definitely an outlier, although he's still a fairly prolific tackler. He averaged 4 tackles a game last year in the VFL across 16 games. He was not a prolific ball winner up forward but he was a strong tackler.

Agree. I was surprised that he was delisted.  I guess that shows you how strong the Tigers are and how RUTHLESS you have to be. He’s worthy of a rookie spot imv.

i've said it before but i actually don't think there has ever been a player we've disagreed on

Yep, also surprised the Egg was dropped.

Guess there was no room for him with Short, Houli, Vlastuin, Baker and even Stack when he’s not tucking into kebabs.

He’s my favourite delisted free agent so far.

Lachie Schultz has been de-listed from Freo, with a promise to re-rookie. I liked his games in the back half of this year. Victorian boy and a small forward.

Agree. Type of player we need (a creative wing/half back with good skills and good pace) and could be ready to go for 2021.   I thought he looked ok when called up by the Tigers this year.

jacob townsend is one of the great survivors and the suns are still just the placed to go when no one else will give u a contract. and i thought CEllis, Horlin-Smith, Miles and aaron young out was the end of those type of deals for them but markov, atkins and now townsend are such stinky signings + theyre still carrying hombsch, holman (who has been serviceable) and jordon murdoch (ik who right). they dont need 49 list spots if one of them is going to jacob townsend ffs

The number of players delisted this  year is amazing.  Whilst the lists are being reduced, some clubs have got down to 35 players (pies and Roos) so they can add 9 additional players through DFA, draft or rookie draft lists. I think clubs will use the next few weeks to scan the DFAs or keep a 1-2 spots vacant and add players to train on lists for possible SSP selection prior to the start of the year.

I'm not someone who obsesses over DFAs and would generally give an untried kid a spot on the list through the draft, but Schultz is a tackling machine and would be our best defensive forward straight away. He always looks threatening around goal, and at the feet of Brown, Weideman and Jackson, he may get more opportunities than he would at Freo. Surely a 2 year deal, a return to Victoria and a spot on our list would trump a year on Freo's rookie list?

A number of players have been delisted recently as a result of rule changes relating to rookies. I understand that Shultz is one of those players and he will be automatically put on the Dockers’ rookie list with the consent of the player and club. Your suggestion is therefore most unlikely.

Bummer, it would have been nice to return the favour when Freo rookied Jack Hannath a while back after we had promised to rookie him.

Cant we offer him a senior spot? If he is any good. Could be an upgrade on a few small forwards we already have

he is purely a victim of circumstances, well and truly entrenched in the best 22 this season but they only had very few OOC players after their initial list changes.no doubt players like giro, switkowski, colyer etc had they been ooc would have been move instead but as he was ooc he had to drop down. theyll find a way to take him straight back up next season

But some of these blokes are already claimed - Hateley to the Crows - or will be rookied by their club Birchall, Gleeson, Ballenden, Kennedy.  Strange analysis by the Knightmare!

I think that clubs will probably keep a spot for the supplemental place like we did with Mitch Brown and Bennell.  Get them to train over the summer and see who excites.  Given the nature of the draft, there might be some that have higher risk that dont get drafted that need to be closely looked at over the pre-season.  Hopefully we can find a diamond in the rough and hold one spot for SPP and get them to prove themselves over the summer.  It nearly worked with Bennell. I would then use mid season draft to top up from mature leagues to cover any injury gaps.

Is there a current list of DFA's for perusal?

Isn't Venables from  WC in the same  position?

Why can't another club offer these guys a senior contract what's the rule here?

venables has long term concussion symptoms like KK but is still on the senior list but theyll be able to make him inactive and then replace him with a SSP pick

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
