Is anyone getting the 1987 feeling right now? Granted there isn’t much at stake as there was then

Out: Melksham, Smith, and someone

In: Jones, Harmes, LJ

Put harmes in and send him straight to Kelly!

Jones on HF has been good this year, just dont put him behind the ball or somewhere his pace can be exposed!

Other option is Hore, who i think is a much better version than Smith, but 0 football for 18 months probably doesnt bode well for him.

Jackson needs to come in,  if we were lucky enough to get through, Eagle backline is depleted, recon having Weid hold out a Key Def and Fritcsh take a Mcgovern out wide will allow LJ a run at it and Brown to work up the ground as an option, allowing Max to play his kick behind the play role.

Unfortunately we have put ourselves in this position about making finals which is a shame, because if ever you want to play Eagles in a Perth final now is the time!

When selecting for the finals we must be careful not to run Gawn into the ground as we will need him for all four matches.

For this reason LJ must play.

LJ needs to play, but got a Bye before finals Gawn would be fine!

But you have to think about the following three matches and the travel plus the parade...the list goes on

Gawn will definitely need help or he may be too tired to give a good speech as he lifts the cup

I completely forgot about the parade and of course Trac's Brownlow celebrations.

Think we are to tall without him though. Weid, LJ, Brown, Fritsch, Trac.  Means we onky have 1 small fwd.  Spargo's best is very good. But his worst is bad!  Kinda sounds familiar as a dees supporter.

Jack Riewoldt just said on AW that Marty Hore is playing very well for the Tigers in a scratch match vs Brisbane. He'd be a handy in if we make it.

Funny I mentioned it to my dad today and he said it actually reminds him of 1976. Obviously I’m too young to remember that year, but he said it all went down to another side winning. Ironically it was also Footscray then that ruined it for us. Only difference it was more likely we were going to qualify then.

He even said he felt certain we were going to make it in 1976, but in 1987, he doubted we would. He only went to that game to farewell Robbie Flower.

Anyone remembering 1976 and 1987 want to share their memories and feeling of those times?

Not to mention Footscray was also who we had to beat to make it in 1987 ?

Agreed, and let’s move forward, the suggestions to bring him back are crazy. On another note, I stumbled across an article that was about the person observed in your avatar, small world!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
