If @Tough Kentis right about 9 changes and Goodwin mentioned 6 names there is at least 3 others to come in so Kozzie could well be one.  Would be surprised if he wasn't.

Which, in the end, probably wouldn't surprise us as this is our third game in a week and a half.  There would be a few tired bodies out there and freshening up the side, while keeping our core players together, probably isn't a bad thing.

A bit late in my book.  I think it is the core players that should be rested. 

imv we should have rotated/rested sore players, midfielders and Weideman (who has been bashed around for a while and is still not AFL conditioned having played about 30 games) during the first condensed fixture or at the beginning of this condensed fixture.  Now we are in a catch-22 where we can't afford to rest core players because of injuries to others. 

 

Edit:  As an aside, I was a bit disappointed in Goodwin talking about the tight fixture, Alice, travel and arriving at Gazaly same day.  All may be correct but if we had rotated/rested players when we had the chance, then those things probably wouldn't have taken the toll they have.  It sounded like he was laying the ground work for reasons excuses for not making finals.  He was not at all convincing in his expectations of what we will achieve.   Hope he does a more convincing job on the players.

Just trying a new vintage Pinot Bbo and I thought of you. Hmm could do with being in the bottle a little longer. 

Team selection should be about balance. We need to find a second tall (Frisch is a 3rd tall, not 2nd); one that can drae6a defender so Weids isn't double team.  At the moment  of all our current options, the only two that could adequately fill this role is May and Gawn. Either could work we just need to find someone that could do their role. Prues has been okay so that's possible; Omac maybe, but probably a better option is for Tmac to revert back to his days as fullback.  With the ball coming to him and only needing to spoil it will likely build his confidence as well. A fit Tmac also had the tank to ru  with Hogan.

I'm a bit on both sides with that.  I think we should have rested a few more when we had the chance, but perhaps the club felt we didn't have enough cover and it could do more damage than good?  We're not a Geelong, for instance, that can rest players and then come out and smash a side like the Bombers.  We're just not good enough yet.

I think those excuses mentioned above are valid, but I think we're also sick of hearing about them.  Good sides overcome those things more often than not and find a way to scrap out a win, like a good side would have done against the Swans.  We don't have the capacity or depth to do that on a consistent basis.

The camera work at Cairns was particularly bad, we really didn't see much of what was happening off the ball at all, but overall I'd say we play what basketball or american football calls a man-zone which is where players still pick out an opponent - choosing based on size and position - and then zone from them. 

You can't just sit back in a designated zone because that's too easy to force mismatches, nor can you go man to man all over the ground. So it's a mixture.

Apart from when he was in the midfield I saw Smith mostly and then Rivers on Papley. Smith took Hibberd's spot in the back pocket so likely had Papley when he was deep, other times he had Hayward.

Our small forwards don't defend, (chasing is not defending) so at a maximum we can only carry one of Melks, Bennel and Picket; noting none of these 3 present as a great marking target.

Fritsch stays in because he does present and mark the ball (the goals will come) - therefore a potential dangerous matchup.  Note he misses a lot of shots because he's taking them from the dead pocket for his foot - which is more about team play (leading patterns) that has now ruined his confidence for in front of goals.

I like the idea of Viney forward to win the ground ball and play defensive/aggressive.

Hannan can mark it, but must be more accountable otherwise ANB

Dunkley should at least provide the real pressure required.  Pickets enthusiasm I'd great but he chases more than tackles, and his tackles don't stick.  He also runs past the ball, when it hits the ground.

We needed to rotate/rest only one player per game to keep our best dozen fresh.  

If the club thinks we didn't have enough cover to do that, then I give up.  We have a fit and healthy list and cover is what the players 15 to 30 are there for.  Instead we rotated player 15 to 22.  Go figure.

We didn't protect our best players and now, those little ole chickens have now come home to roost.

Melksham is the last man standing that Goody hasnt dropped if he wants to show hes serious about winning.   Hes been gifted games all season.
