From SEN article, ‘North Melbourne and West Coast have opened talks about relocating their Round 18 game from Queensland to Perth.   It's a move that is sure to anger other finals-bound clubs.’

Obviously promises to be a bigger percentage booster for WC than they’d otherwise expect, and a bigger percentage loser for North. (Even though it’s not a true home game that North will be selling.) So if North’s percentage takes a bigger hit, it will possibly compromise how clubs finish at the bottom of the ladder. If North happen to gain another win by round 18, compared to Sydney and Hawthorn, then draft picks 2-4 will be decided by percentage.

If only selling ‘home’ games to an interstate club was an option for MFC in their tanking years.

Doesn’t seem to worry Garry Lyon. “There’s no fairness in what’s going on at the moment. I don’t mind it.”  So, we should just accept this competition is entitled to further disregard the pretence of integrity? Who’d have thought.

Agreed, horrible can of worms to open. But it's the AFL they can just make it up as they go.

I honestly believe I will be following soccer in my lifetime as the number 2 sport in this country

I’m sure Gil Mc will go for it. It’s a biased comp setup to assist the rich and powerful. Why not continue the theme.

Hey, but only the Dees have ever tanked !! Not those many many clubs who have players undergo surgery “early” with 3-4 rounds to go and then not surprisingly lose those 3-4 games. Btw Crows are not tanking. They are shizzzzzenholfen

We sold games to Brisbane for years which really annoyed a lot of clubs (that win in 2002 was something special though!). Never in season though, I suppose it’s all compromised so whatever.

In a perverse way it makes sense but only if you assume WC plays their first final in WA.

Wheels within wheels.

If the AFL allow this I'd be staggered.

Imagine the cashed up Eagles every year offering clubs money to play games in WA, or the Tigers paying clubs to play at the G.

It would further reduce the integrity of a competition that has very little.

Another reason as to why this season is an absolute joke.

The fact that in round 6 we were originally scheduled to play Richmond, and then Fremantle and then finally Gold Coast tells me all I need to know about this season.

Or what about that Monday in late June when the AFL re-scheduled our opponents on 6 days notice.

North Melbourne are giving an absolute masterclass in tanking, it's one of the greatest tanking performances the world has ever seen.

The Crows while Shyzenhouzen are also giving a world class performance of their own in the tanking stakes. Currently placing their best players in Rory Laird , Daniel Talia and Brad Crouch away for weeks to guarantee the spoon.

No, no their not tanking not at all?

As we know if this had been us, the AFL would have made this the worst thing a team could do, shame the hell out of them.

Any other team it's ok if we make it sound like we have to "relocate the game''?

Yes I agree. It’s double standards all round

No they could not win even with all there best players playing early in the year, saying teams are tanking is a flawed  argument, one of the main games they pointed to Melbourne tanking was the Richmond game where we actually lost after the siren.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
