Wherever is left?

But seriously, anywhere with an appropriate sized playing field and a secure health situation will be acceptable. If some fluke brings the situation to one where a crowd is possible then wherever can offer the best atmosphere, NOT necessarily the largest numbers. It'll be corporates and raffle winners and few others and they'll be going bananas after 14 days quarantine. Come to think of it, they might need to plan for that for any clubs playing finals. What a travel package that would be.

I can imagine a Chinese only vaccine with Gil striking a deal to move all finals clubs to a Wuhan hub and get the vaccine. Icing on the 2020 cake

Luckily we'll miss finals and not experience the side effects

Might get sponsorship from Huawei.

There seems to be two lines of thinking on this. One is to have it in one of the other traditional football states of WA or SA, both of which have new stadiums with at least a 50k capacity. The other is to have it in one of the two states of NSW or QLD as payback for helping the competition continue for the next few weeks at least and in contrast to both SA and WA who have made things very difficult (and expensive) for the AFL.

Until a time when our Dees have no chance of being in it I would want it to take place in the largest capacity stadium of the most accessible and least expensive city to travel to which would be Sydney and unfortunately ANZ Stadium. Thereafter I really couldn't care less where it is played.

It should be in one of the other AFL heartlands, either Perth or Adelaide. Concerns Perth could be too hot at that time of year but other than that I don't see a reason why not, Adelaide would be my pick as I think the Adelaide Oval is one of the best stadiums I've seen plus it has the advantage of being more central to everyone.

The AFL will choose Sydney though because their eyes will light up with dollar signs and see an opportunity to promote the game in the northern states. Perth and Adelaide will quite rightfully feel screwed over.

NSW assuming no break out could go to Phase 4 which would allow 20k or thereabouts....

I reckon NSW is about 2 weeks away from a breakout.

Things are just getting a bit shaky up there now.

The other states might be lucky but wouldn't want to ease off too early.

I 100% agree with you in that  NSW could be getting some serious cases soon, thanks to us unfortunately.

The season’s over If the NSW hub gets interrupted, IMO.

As for an ANZ stadium GF, would it sell out? And if it doesn’t I wonder if the general public from Victoria could fly up and attend the game (assuming things have settled down in 3 months)

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
