I’m not sure if this is being discussed anywhere but we should be getting in touch with Amazon, Netflix, and other online based companies to offer sponsorship tarps to cover the empty seats in the ground.

It will cover the bizarre look of the stands and will provide addition cash into the club, there is literally an entire ground that we could cover in it!

The game I'm watching should be sponsored by Who Gives A Crap. Great publicity in the current circumstances.

I thought it was a Nuffy suggestion during the week but surely the tech exists to superimpose crowd and noise for the TV audience. No crowds feels so sterile.

Seems a no brainer to put advertising tarps on empty seats like the Richmond one behind the goals.

Seriously [censored] Amazon.

Lol just a suggestion! Lots of companies are going to be battening down the hatches for a while, only web-based delivery companies are going to be ones doing good business so feel free to propose another one to approach!

Not having a go at you Pates, just a horrible entity. Sound idea though.

CGI coverage of the stands has been a possibility for years. They did it at a rugby union game years ago.

It's the MCC who is against it.... they own the ground advertising rights. They had apoplexy at the time

Good idea BUT do you really think the Club would listen ?

I'd be speaking to the producers of sitcoms such as Seinfeld and Friends to superimpose cheering and laughter.

This technology has progressed in the past few years, integrating computer game drivers. It involves large LED screens - so the players would also see the (strange) simulated crowds.

Incidentally, an Australian DP has been doing some impressive work with this technology on the Star Wars projects.

Given that we are going through an unprecedented world event, I think it's close to a miracle that we have any footy to look forward to at all.  Based on that, any complaints about how the grandstands look or what sounds you can hear are so insignificant for mine.

Further to that, a superimposed version of a crowd would look so amateurish, would cost fortune to look good, would take weeks to months to develop, and it's something that is totally not required.  The players are the ones that are seriously missing out because they aren't playing in front of a crowd.  We're not missing out on anything.

And I'll go even further with a dose of reality - we had no idea at all if the season was going ahead until THIS week.  Yes, we knew stadiums would start off empty should the opening rounds go ahead.  But the call to try and attract new sponsors (ie Netflix, Amazon, et al), what a joke.  What company is going to go and pay for sponsorship opportunities in the current climate.

Might be a bit too much for mass LED screens but you could project the various cheer squads assuming you could get over all the image and privacy issues.

Perhaps just fill the stands with imaginary animals. It definitely needs something.

Hasn’t this been done for years, maybe way back, for Port Adelaide games?
I didn’t watch much of last night but what happened when the ball went out into the empty stands?

We need 80,000 laptops networked at the 'G with live audio (let's not risk video) links playing so people can connect and yell from their own home.

There would be competition for spots in no time.

I work with a guy who looks after the ads on the LED screens at the G.  The superimposition of ads on the seating is going to happen.  It already happens in many sports so it seems to not be a huge leap.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

    TRAINING: Thursday 9th January 2025

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
