What is the status on Waverley?

Caulfield going around in circles ?

The fanfare around Artic Park seems to have gone 🤫 🤷‍♂️

I suspect only those that know actually know why all the secret squirrel silence re the Racetrack. I really wouldn't have thought it needed the cone of silence treatment. Any one would be forgiven for thinking were looking to install an SMR on the quiet.

It was originally rumoured we would move training to Waverley in December.. not looking likely at present.

You'd reckon we were trying to crack the Enigma with all the cloak and dagger.

It's a couple of ovals and a fancifully fitted out warehouse f f s

Get on with it Melbourne

Thanks for quoting me 4 times...

Makes me feel spesh 😉 👍

This isn't so much a long trip... as circuitous laps around the block looking for a car park.

Well I thought we'd found that car park.

Still crickets ...

I expect a very positive announcement at the AGM.

Got some info in the last 48 hours.

Caulfield will happen for us.

We need it 'Red'...in fact why wait for the AGM unless they have other stuff they want to cover up on the night.

Maybe a couple of issues to still work through, but it is moving forward and from what I hear is happening.

Not the best time to get State Government assistance of course, but the community aspect is helping.

Unless something blows it up, I expect the Dees to be training there in 2028.

As to the announcement, that is up to the club of course to pick the best time and and AGM seems pretty suitable with a new Coach, CEO and President.

to be training there in 2028 - as in the ovals will be ready by then?

seems awfully quick to get the buildings built

If they can turn the first sods early next year, then running on an oval for preseason 28 is quite feasible. I can only imagine the "building" will be composite tilt slab and steel skeleton.

We're not building a shopping mall here.

Where's a will there's a way. A servo can be up and running in 6 months.

It's all about project management

i'll take it

as others have said, it ain't the taj mahal - office buildings / fancy gym combo

Actually it is not up to the Club to pick a time about an announcement on Caulfield. They will not be able to say anything meaningful until the State Government says they can. This has been the position for as long as the project has been worked on. Yes, it is getting closer, and yes it is entirely appropriate to update members at the AGM, but any defintive announcement will only emerge when the State Government says it can.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
