In limbo: There are only two Dees out of contract, but both Jay Kennedy Harris and Billy Stretch (pictured) currently appear unlikely to be at the club next season. Melbourne targeted run throughout the trade period, with Adam Tomlinson and Ed Langdon joining.

Delisted: Jeff Garlett, Declan Keilty
Retired: Jordan Lewis, Corey Maynard, Tim Smith, Guy Walker

Would take Josh Walker and Ben Keays from Brisbane. Both would be depth upgrades at least.

Josh Walker is a definite no for me

I really don't think he is AFL standard - I'm confident Geelong and Brisbane feel the same way

Josh Walker has always intrigued me as a footballer.

Still only 26

Has improved markedly at Bris bane Def defence insurance and can switch hut up forward

Sam Gray and Christiansen ( don't like how he ducks his head) are the types of players we should look at as they are small forwards with skills and above all kick goals!

Sorry Seen Walker improve in defence and an most surprised Lions have not signed him up.

plays with more body and while not all Harris Andrews skills he is hard to beat one on one Msybe pace a  question  but reliable snd good overhead mark

I expect both Sam Grey & Allen Christensen to stay at their clubs given Port missed out on Fantasia and Brisbane Elliott.

Would love Sam Skinner despite the fact Brisbane will likely try to keep him. Think we should offer him a decent contract and get him in the PSD. Can play at either end and is really aggressive.

Would also take a punt on Tim Broomhead assuming he gets delisted as a DFA. Was just starting to establish himself in the Collingwood team until he broke his leg early 2018. Has pace, is a good kick and would help provide some forward pressure and crumbing ability.

Surely Keays is worth a look! Still only 22 years old and has showed a bit at AFL level the past few years. Kicked 43 goals from 16 games in the NEAFL this year. IMO he'd be an upgrade on all our depth forwards at worst.

Why don’t we look at Harley Bennell as a rookie

Stick him in the forward line and see what he can do.

Worth the risk imo.

Harley Bennell for sure. Get him. Risk & reward option.
Safe option, if the Cats don't re-sign him would be Lachie Henderson. Gives us key position coverage at both ends

Have you watched Henderson lately?, I run with more fluidity and I'm in my sixties

Turn it up. You get around on a scooter. Unless it's a race down a steep hill, I'm backing Henderson

Hope your brakes are in good nick !

Should have a chat with Goody and see if there's a rookie spot with your name on it. Chap like you should get a game.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
