Yep and if he cracks the sheeeits then trade out to potential suitors, I don't care at what pick either..

Limited player with limited impact .. almost a throwback to the sixties and seventies when getting the ball and roosting it were the rage.

His free agent next year so he can walk for [censored] if not traded this year.

I’m not a huge fan of Jack either, we often look better balanced on ball without him in the team but...it isn’t going to happen anytime soon

Hi old man does nothing as far as I can see. Spends a lot of time leaning on the fence at the paddock.

What is his real job?

Head of player personnel? I think recruiting and list management come under him?

I always thought it was totally inappropriate to have Todd in a position to influence football department discussions about his own son. Should have left when Jack was drafted to clear the path and eliminate any conflicts of interest...

I remember Donald McDonald left North Melbourne when Luke was drafted...

But our list isn't poor.  It's essentially the same list that made a Prelim in 2018.

Some players struggled last year, and the gameplan needs some tweaking, but we also had plenty of players struggle through with injuries that were either pre-season ones, or happened early on in the season.

If we get pretty much everyone right next year and find ourselves outside the eight then you've got a case and heads will roll.  But I don't think the list is poor by any stretch.

Wise we have  high draft picks like  number 2, five years in, still not taking the game on,still not fit enough and still cant play 4 quarters. So something about the list and its management is NQR. By the way i really dont think a players father in such a position is a good look.

With Viney senior out the door you would almost bet Viney Junior will walk for the right offer come his a FA next year. We should 100% look to trade him this year. Even if it’s Viney out, Wines in.

People asked the same at my suggestion to trade Watts or Toumpas or to draft Oliver at pick 4.

I would put trading Viney in the strategy bucket. It’s thinking long term from a list perspective.

Trading Viney would be a stupid knee-jerk reaction that won't be considered.

Get the midfield fit, get our inside dominance back and bring in players who can spread quickly and efficiently both offensively and defensively.

Not only is the list not poor, it can look and be improved very quickly, by the addition of a Langdon, Tomlinson and maybe another experienced player, together with an injury free run at it, from May, Tom Mac, Melksham, Weid, KK, AVB, J.Smith, Hannan, Jetta etc and the development of Sparrow, Jordon, Nietsche, Bedford, Chandler and any new draftees, together with the moving on of a few more NQR's.

Did he? I vaguely recall a video of Donald informing Luke of being selected for his first game. I know he's no longer at North though.

SOS is at Carlton with at least one son, who recently re-signed.

There must be other examples.

I think the talk of the so-called Todd/Jack conflict of interest is a bit of a beat up, as long as there are clear boundaries of separation in terms of selection, contracts, etc. Of course we have no idea about this, but surely the club set this up when they both started at MFC

Surely the Club set this up when both started at MFC. Do you really we think we have that foresight, discipline and clear lines of operation.

I would've thought so, yes.

Potential conflict of interests between family members is common in many industries and workplaces, professional sporting clubs included. Setting boundaries is the blindingly obvious and professional thing to do.

Jack has had a poor year and our disappointing season has everyone, including Todd, in the firing line. But let's not assume without any evidence that nepotism is part of the problem

Personally I think Todd has been back at the club for some time now and may well benefit from a change. But I'm certainly only not going to claim conflict of interest just for the sake of it.

I gave no evidence either way but listen with interest when some here say Todd is no shrinking violet and strong influencer at the Club aligned to the Goodwin camp. As someone who had a father coach him at footy I am amazed jack would want his Dad around. Anyway sounds like situation sorted and we can move forward.

Exactly.

So you'd rather believe what anonymous posters write on the internet or equate Jack's situation with your junior football experiences? Lol.

You should do stand-up.

Jack will be the first to admit it hasn't been his best season. He had half a game at Casey in their last practise match and then came into the team for game one against the Power, as did Jones. Not the ideal prep for a season and that foot injury has to be managed and will never be 100%. He has a role to play in the team and most times does it to the best of his ability.

I wouldn't trade him but wish he would learn to use his right foot instead of always turning on his left and to occasionally not get drawn to the contest and cover the outside. He has been told to toe it down as he is so footy focused he can be annoying to the other players. he has on occasions admitted that he needs to backoff onfield and on the track when communicating to his team mates. Nothing that cannot be fixed and let him develop.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
