Anyone know what happened to Jordon in the 2nd half?

Was up in the disposal count at half time then seemed to drop right off.

Why Marty Hore was not picked to play tonight just beggars belief. Goodwin has definitely lost the plot this season.

Hore will play next week. So will May. 

Salem must go into the midfield more and not end up in the last line.  Must be creative.

Yep while poor Lever keeps getting injured every week because HE IS NOT FIT!

A young and undermanned Casey Demons were sent out on Saturday to the Swinburne Centre in the shadows of the MCG on a man’s errand against a very experienced Richmond VFL combination which is the clear ladder leader and fielded no less than 18 AFL listed players.

It was expected to be a rout and the Tigers made easy work of it in the early stages when they held a 26 point lead by quarter time. To their credit however, the Demons weathered the storm and kept their opponents within the range of that margin until a late run of goals saw them lose by a margin of 35 points in the end. Richmond’s accuracy when kicking for goal probably made that margin somewhat flattering.

Given that the Demons had only nine MFC listers (including Category B rookie Austin Bradtke who is only finding his feet after spending several years as a basketballer) and lost Jimmy Munro who has been in exceptional form to a rib injury before half time, it was a far better display than anyone could reasonably have expected.

With half a dozen in the side having played no more than a handful of games at this level, the Casey side stuck to the plan and defended well against the odds.

The man who held the defence together in outstanding fashion was former Magpie VFL player Marty Hore who collected 34 touches and spent the afternoon harassing the opposition and intercepting many of their scoring attempts, a particularly courageous display in light of the fact that less than a month ago he suffered a broken collarbone on the MCG. He certainly thrust his name before the Melbourne selectors for a return to that venue in a week’s time against the Magpies.

Another returning Demon who shone out was Billy Stretch who has been bedeviled by foot injuries over the past twelve months. He provided great drive on one wing but unfortunately, the cupboard was mostly bare and bereft of key forward talent and this was the team’s ultimate downfall

Although slightly beaten on the day by Richmond’s 2017 premiership ruckman Toby Nankervis, Casey’s big man Liam Wale-Buxton battled manfully and picked up 31 hit outs in a great tussle against the Tiger who is coming back from injury and is expected to return to the senior Richmond side before the finals.

Former skipper Jack Hutchins had his best game for a while and 19-year-old Nick Lowden was impressive with two goals, one of which was a great snap from the boundary.

With just two games left for the season, Casey is unlikely to contest the finals but will be keen to finish the season on a winning note.

Jordon was still on for the 2nd half, was quite heavily rotated through the bench though so may have had a niggle.

At times in the 2nd and 3rd quarters it looked like Richmond had a heavy tag on Stretch which was interesting, I thought he worked into the game very well with his workrate getting him to many contests.

Losing Munro was massive, he's been our best player all year.

Josh Wagner attended several bounces in the centre square in the 3rd quarter which I can't remember seeing before.

Lockhart by his standards was very quiet.

We squandered two dubious free kicks inside 50 and a 50 metre penalty against Menadue, all 3 shots were sodas that we missed, particularly White's who is normally a good kick for goal. This killed all the momentum we had in that 3rd quarter and it was only a matter of time before their senior listed players overran us.

Marty Hore's game was incredible, his intercept marking and reading of the play which is his best asset came to the fore, easily BOG and if he's not selected for the AFL need week I'd be amazed.

Maybe because he is slow and Richmond’s small forwards are anything but? Hore’s intercept marking and accumulation are great, but too many choose to ignore his obvious shortcomings.

Uhhh... it was a rolled ankle, not a soft tissue injury.

Exactly. Lever, Hore and Oscar in the same backline against the Tigers would've been terrible and only 1 of those was some chance of playing on Riewoldt so they put poor Oscar in to do it. And even though Hore is a mature player with plenty of VFL footy under his belt it probably doesn't kill him to go back and get 30 kicks. If we do play Lever and Hore together - and I think we should this week - then they both have to be ball users and provide rebound.

I'm never been on the Lever is a superstar track but he's shown some really promising signs against West Coast, St Kilda and in the first half yesterday. These games are important to get his confidence and some game time in to him before next season. The idea he should've sat out half a season when healthy to make it the best part of 2 years missed is crazy.

The way he came off i was sure it was a knee. Jut looked like the classic not much in it sort of incident where acls are done. I felt sick for him and to a lesser extent the club. 

After he came back on i stopped caring about the result. That was win enough.

Agree on all counts DS.

His kicking is a worry but he reads the play beautifully. I'd like to see him put on some muscle and get a bit stronger, but that will a happen naturally as he is stil youngish and will fill out a bit more. 

Important he gets some games with May i reckon - they should compliment each other really well

Although he has the nous to be able to carve out a Dustin Fletcher inspector gadget skinny armed career with his ability to read the drop of the ball and spoil. Here's to hoping he lasts just as long. I reckon his kicking has probably (and hopefully temporarily) lost that 5% distance due to the leg injuries, and his instinct is probably miscalculating an ability to hit that pin point target.
