Members should have received an email today from the club requesting you to participate in a membership survey. It's a good thing they did it today compared to if they sent it on Monday (and following a loss to Carlton if it occurs).

Would love yo know what @Sir Why You Little put down for the top 5 words that come to mind when you think about the Melbourne Football club!

Still stuck in the fifties.

irrslevance

And further BB, I challenge them to put the same question to opposition supporters around the Country to get a true picture of our current and past incompetence and .irrelevance apart from them having a two out of three opportunity to rack up another win.

The true results of the survey will be manipulated. Back it in. They will already be locking in key words like improving, potential.....

It was a curiosity to me. I noted that in reality it was  from the.Membership  Dept . By that it struck me as more about the delivery of membership and its value more than what we really think about the club (team). There was a small section in which one could let rip (in a fashion )

I wonder what value  many put (0-10) for our on field efforts lol

Suffice to say i didnt answer 10 ?

When rating our on-field performance from a rating of 0 (extremely disappointed) to 10 (extremely satisfied) I can’t see many people going above the 1 watermark.

I have contempt for surveys that try and fashion responses into x amounts of words. A bit like interviewers who ask to describe yourself in one word. Amateur  hour and lazy.

How is the administration of the club gong? Answer: You gave a coach an extension before we'd played a game and now we can't sack him cause its to expensive.......

I was a Manager at Carlton Social Club in the early 80s. Fifteen thousand footy members and thousands of social members , both footy and social club worked together, it ran on a shoestring budget and staffing. No one is suggesting that but all member complaints were taken seriously and members were known by name. And if they were not satisfied all hell broke loose at the Annual General Meeting. It was a success driven Club and everyone happily met what was expected of them

Yes i saw that. Will fill it in after lunch.

I need to prepare....

I haven't received this yet.

In the past the 5 words I've used have been along the lines of history, soft, irrelevant, pushovers, homeless, unprofessional etc

Hard to argue those points (sadly).

Uncompetitive

Dissapointing

Unwatchable

Nomadic

Irrelevant

I seriously feel sorry for the MFC employee who will be reading these emails.

I will not hold back

Sharpening the Blades before i commence...

I said that the communication from the club to members this year has been appalling. Have not heard boo from our CEO. You’d hardly know he works at MFC

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
