9th? Not a hope in hell, od

The bottom 2 or 3 await

Could not agree more jr.

I have looked  at the remaining games and I cannot see one that I would be comfortable about winning.

The most likely result is 15 th or 16th.

I've been thinking about this a bit, now we're the bottom dwellers again with little hope for the future. ?

There's something about the current crop of players that just isn't as likeable/relatable/exciting/dynamic as our other squads in the last 30 years or so that I can remember.  Outside of Oliver, Nev, Gawn we don't really have many iconic stand outs that all great teams have.

It looked like it could be Hogan but the fans never really warmed to him, for various reasons [big sook].

It's really evident that we have this big gaping talent hole in the forward line.  Where's our Jurrah, Neitz, Schwarz, Farmer, Yze, Jakovich of this era?  The aerialists and the great kickers, the player that makes you stand up in anticipation when the chaos ball goes into the forward line? Jesus we are light on up there and right across the ground.

I just find it hard to really get excited about this mix of players, especially the forwards.  It's clear we are 5 or 6 skillful players short of being a decent contender.  Hard to love a team populated with Omacs, Wagners, Spargos and others substandard project players that clearly aren't going to cut the mustard.

I'm seeing young skillful dynamic A graders popping up in every team these days... and the best we can do over the last couple of years is unearth a couple of players who are 'competitive' or 'hard at it'.  Need a bit more than that these days unfortunately...

We also have a tendency to repair the whole team by selecting only one or two 'recruits' from sources still available to us that meet ongoing criteria for Club betterment. It is proving, each year, to not be a panacea for our immediate-to-midterm future.

Those players are overworked, a representation of our dependency on that which was taken with the equivalent of playing 'fillers' attempting to blend into that scenario of hope, and always, requiring massive personal improvements across the rest of the board to make any difference whatsoever.

We pick the wrong management types, FD heads and specialists in every cycle; only Roos, of late, was worth it. We also seem to ignore our very talented lists of past players who move onward to other clubs to ply their footballing credentials and expertise to outstanding effects.

In the Saints game I heard someone behind me wanting to play North or Carlton because we could probably beat them. There is no side right now that we could pencil in the way we are playing right now.

This article is primarily about Brayshaw but it could be about any number for our players: Demon Challenge

:...the question now circling Brayshaw and his fellow Demons is whether they have it in them to work through this phase of their careers to become elite footballers capable of lifting Melbourne into grand finals and winning flags...Melbourne are suffering a version of the second-year blues, football's way of reminding those who move towards success that only those who work and respect the fundamentals maintain it."

And

Roos says:  "Your career is defined not by what you do at the club, your career is defined by what you do away from the club ... diet, sleeping, watching vision..."Is he an absolute student of the game? Or is he punching the clock in or clocking it out?"

2019 is shot.  2020 will come down to how hard the players want to work to make it happen which is something that has been a challenge for our club for a long, long time.

I'm a Tasmanian and all for supporting sport down here, but Blundstone is a horrible place to play and watch football, swirly, cold and in the middle of the burbs.

Not much better for cricket either.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
