In all seriousness, he had about as much interest in the game tonight as Tom Mac did yesterday.  He'll find it tougher to kick goals for Freo under Wossy, but I'll save my sniggers for when the real stuff starts.

Down the track he will realise the mistake he made in leaving the Dees and I do not now care one little bit. He is well gone and time to leave it be.

It was good to see Andy Brayshaw back out there and getting into the thick of it.

Through himself to smother a kick which could have easily hit him in the jaw.  Didn't blink.  Fearless like our Gus (and I suspect other brothers).

Saw Jackie Boy play off wing /half back for Port

Amongst the best

Gee I miss that bloke

Honestly, i dont think he will at all. Footy is like a social outing to him. Hes back home to his mates,  earning big bucks, and going to festivals every weekend.

Freo could lose every game this year and i dont think he would care in the world.

After week one of the all important JLT Cup.

Just great. The AFL screws us again and makes us play the 2018 Ladder leader after 22 rounds in week 1 and the 2019 JLT ladder leader in week 2.

100% true.

It is a bit early 'spurs' and of course it's only practice match footy but yeah, it is really boring stuff to watch.

There has been zero pressure in these games so I guess we have to wait for the season proper.

So far it's about as interesting as last years AFLX footy.

...and just maybe it comes back to that old saying "be careful what you ask for".

Someone had to say it, but at the moment the emperor has no clothes.

I only watched our game rjay but I felt that we saw a different balance between the in-close footy and open footy.

There was plenty of pressure on players disposing of the ball - especially on Angus who,  to be fair,  did have 37 disposals.  So from an overall perspective,  if that's the sort of footy we get to see,  I'm on board.

You don't want too much one way or the other (congestion/open footy) so I hope we get to see a good balance in the neutral games.  Our game looked like it was easier to officiate too.  We saw the 'longer' bomb from the kick in and that was interesting - cleared the press a few times thus opening the game up.

But it's early doors ... we won't be able to make a judgement call on the rule changes until about a third of the way into the season.  My ideal game would see about 32 goals being scored in a match - and both us and the Tiges scored 16 goals each on Sunday.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
