I guess what is not mentioned is that the MFC has already stitched up one of the guys who would have been on of the biggest name free agents of 2019:

Steven May.

Cogniglio or Tomlinson could be handy.  Would be nice to get a FA without giving up draft picks

Coniglio is a serious jet. IMO was unlucky not to be named All Australian last year. One of the best rounded goal kicking midfielders in the game. I'd love to land him, but I suspect it's either GWS or a return home to WA.

We should just focus on keeping our own going forward. Keep Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca, Lever etc together and the success will come.

I know he doesn't pass the 'no DH' test, but Libba could be an A grade mid if he got his [censored] together. Can't see him leaving WB, but stranger things have happened, and we have Macca and a bunch of others who I'd back to pull him into line.

AFL website has clubs circling Cogniglio, with Freo the favourites. However 'The Rabbit' grew up despising Freo. Article also has Carlton and Hawthorn (surprise, surprise) in the race.

I’d rather Harley Burnnell if we’re going to take a top of the range dh.

But fortunately we’re in a position where quality people and players are wanting to come to the club now and we don’t need to worry about needing to draft dh’s to improve our talent but coming in and ruining our culture.

Not that Harley Burnnell is a free agent just a dh we could get for nothing like a free agent.

Yeah talented dh that I would prefer to Libba. Luckily we won’t take either.

You'd rather Bennell than Libba???

Glad you're not our list manager

At what point are we done chasing new players and more concerned with keeping the current group we have together? Now, or if not soon I would imagine

None of these names jump off the page for us anyway

Agreed, we don't really need inside mids. We need speed, outside run and a small forward that actually has nous. We've seemed to be targeting a decent small forward for years ever since we picked up Addam Maric those years ago.

Whitfield would be one of the last pieces of the puzzle and the only one from GWS I'd pursue.

Never, we should never stop looking to improve the list.  we should do every year.

I'd happily put a big bid in for Jamie Elliott. Worse case scenario it makes the Pies pay more to keep him.

Stephen Hill if the price is right? Come play wing/back flank and finish your career with some wins.

Brandon Ellis for the right price? Has only had one great year in 2017 since his early days but he can run and kick.

Un-retiring Cyril is still a great idea.

Realistically we've signed Salem, we need to get Weid done at a fair price and then it's probably more shopping around the edges looking for guys who can fill needs.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
