Then deal with it through the correct channels, rather than by baiting and bullying.

It's awful to watch. Posters get in on it together and figure it's OK to do it because there are other people doing it.

It's not. Stop bullying.

It is actually the first time I have ever had anything like a dig at Saty, my comment was made as I found the “ex-basketballer goggles” comment quite condescending (though I actually agree with the point he was making, to me it is ludicrous to be worrying about a category B rookie in his first few weeks of training)

Leave Saty alone he's a legend. As for wiseblood and dazzle they are the scum of the earth. The only thing they offer demonland is potting other posters especially saty. It's a disgrace and they should have a permanent ban that's why I have them on ignore even though some of their comments seep through like wiseblood's continual insults on saty.

Well I've decided to go on Friday when all the boys are back so you will get at least 1 report (unless it rains). I haven't been to training since they trained at the western oval in 2001 when Woewodin was in the red and blue so I'm excited about going. If anyone has any questions they want asked I'm willing to try and answer them.

Is there a way posts can be tagged in threads? So that the reports on the actual training can be filtered so you only have to read those if you like.

I really enjoy reading training reports from actual Dees followers, but there is a mountain of rubbish to sift through in nearly every single thread. Would improve the quality of the site immensly I feel

Agree with this. Final warning to all.

Just on young Bradtke, I understood he was being chased by a number of clubs before he chose Melbourne. I suppose recruiters saw something in him: ours certainly did?.

No, no, no...whilst I think they both go way over the top on the 'Saty' bash apart from that they are both very good posters.

...and yes they do have a dip at others from time to time but just don't take it personally.

Both 'Wise' & 'dazz' provide excellent information & food for thought.

They've just got a bit of a blind spot, that's all.

'Sats' not totally innocent here either, he will play it a bit. I expect he will play the 'take my bat & ball home' card at some stage. That always gets traction.

On the whole, I just find the nitpicking thing boring & skip over the posts that don't have much relevance to me.

One time many years ago, @Satyriconhome made mention that Mark Neeld 'finally' had the right players at his disposal for us to play the was he wanted us to.

Many others disagreed.

Since then, he has said many, many other silly things. Things that have proved to me that his knowledge and attention to detail in all areas of this game is simply not there and that beneath all of this, he is really just a fierce supporter of all individuals that pull on an MFC guernsey and will defend them to the end.

This is why when you hear him say, "an opinion is neither right nor wrong, it's just an opinion", you're allowed to laugh. Opinions can either hold weight, or little weight, depending on one's track record. And saty's is poor.

For anyone who has doubts over a player at this time of year during the pre-season, just hold your tongue.

I have no idea about how Bradtke is tracking...

But I sure as hell know that if Satyriconhome's argument (against the poster suggesting that Bradtke looked out of his depth during training) was that the 'coaches didn't kick him out of a drill', then all you can do is laugh.

I'm quite certain this post will be removed by the powers that be, but I'm pretty sick of Saty nitpicking an entire post due to this posters observations of Bradtke. It's quite ridiculous, it's the same every single year.

You have your opinions as well, just delivered from a high horse

At the time Neeld did seem to have the mix right, unfortunately I was wrong, but I don't gloat over it like other kings of hindsight, everybody is allowed to disagree with any opinion, that is the bit you seem to have difficulty with

You have no idea of how Bradtke is tracking, correct, but it doesn't necessarily stop you from having a go at my opinion, even though I have attended all the sessions Bradtke has, but that's ok

As for some of the other posters, they love using the troll word, which is exactly what they are, yes I am guilty of baiting them occasionally, but in my opinion they deserve it, like the little clique of schoolkids whose only input into school life was bullying

As I have said before, just put me on ignore, so we can look at the pics and read the training reports, although some seem to have a pathological need not to put on ignore, not sure why

Nah just get bored with not being allowed to express an opinion

Aaanywho.. back on topic.

Its a pity I've moved back up bush, some of those training days i attended around finals time were a fantastic experience.

I'm now keen to keep a close eye on Kade Chandler and Tom Sparrow.

Just a quick one. James Jordan is from my way ( Yarrawonga ) and played a couple of senior football matches with some of my mates still playing there. Have heard nothing but glowing reports on him. Fantastic kid who works extremely hard and has enormous upside.

Was also cut by Sandringham Dragons, but just kept plugging away and working hard. Reminds me of when Clayton Oliver was coming through the ranks....

The fact that he's already played senior footy for the strong Ovens and Murray league will only hold his development in good stead.

Me personally, i think next year will be a development year for him. Spend most next year learning his craft at Casey around midfield and half back. I think he'll develop similar to James Harmes, where give it 60 to 70 games and he'll become a very handy player.

To add a bit of balance.

I'd like to see threads where objective  analysis and discussion can take take place fairly.

And that this can be done without rebuke and censorship of those who wish to do so.

Without the "bullying" by those who believe mistakenly that they are the propaganda department of the mfc.

There should be no ownership of training reports and all reports should be welcomed.  There is often some marking of territory that goes on.

Football is interesting, part of that is the discussion of all that is good, bad and indifferent.

I have been an avid reader of Demonland.com since its inception (I think). We should always praise contributors to the site, providing their contributions are legible and not bullying. I enjoy reading all contributions and always had a giggle at Yzemagic's wonderful sense of mischief and imagination. He/she did get a few readers quite excited.

We should all be great full for everyone who contributes to the site whether it is on the mark or not. We are humans, that have passions, emotions and varying forms of skill. Some not so good and some that are masterful. personally I dislike reading a training report ( of which this is the topic) and noting "Trump" like responses which are divisive and ruin what should be an optimistic conversation.

I praise the wonderful contributors as we all should by being respectful to how they contribute to this forum. If you are not sure what this means, "Play the ball not the contributor'.

I am more excited about the Dees than ever. I’ve been a Demonland member for over 10 years but I’m finding that I am less and less inclined to read it. This thread is typically off-putting. I love it when people go to the trouble of reporting on training in the off-season but finding myself scrolling through threads to find factual  info or considered opinions. Please leave your egos at the door

I'll preface this by saying I hate having to moderate this forum but if you post just to abuse or troll you can have a holiday. People enjoy training reports particularly in the offseason and many know how to filter out the noise.

May I suggest you use the ignore if you can't help yourself rather than derail a thread and ruin it for the rest of us.

I'm most interested in which groups back, mid, fwd, players are training with - e.g. Joel Smith, Dec Keilty, Bailey Fritsch, KK, VDB, Jayden Hunt and to lesser extent but still interesting - the draftees?

The divisions might start after Christmas. The senior boys only get back to full time training on Monday.

Curious to hear the thoughts of those who’ve attended training, where KK appears to be in the peaking order, I.e best 22, position attributes etc...

Aside from May, he seems next most likely to slot straight in and improve us.

It’s shaping up as the most competitive list we have had since.......I don’t know when. The battle for spots is going to be on for young and old.  Sure there will be injuries and form lapses but still looking that it’s going to be tight for spots on the flanks, wings and midfield.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
