Like the next Mitch King and Lachie Filipovic?

Got it..

Yep. Because all 18 y.o ruckman stink and you should never draft them..

You are absurd. If indeed, a player is worth considering, it should be or it’s our option to mention it.

It is my understanding,Tom has just been interviewed by Essendon ,awaiting Woosha to come back to Essendon to qualify things He would make a wonderful get in my opinion.Got a 72 hit out one week followed up by 60 in the VFL.Not bad indeed.Killed Preuss when they came up against each other.Pruess was not really rated in the VFL this year.He had quite a disappointing year.Tom would still have a 5/6;years ahead of him with a very strong developed body already.

i hope J-Money, Vines and John have a real good look at this bloke.....a great pick up indeed.

As I've discussed before. He'll be a rookie list option at best.

Definitely a good dominant VFL ruckman thats for sure.

Demons loss? How so? Footscray didn’t want him why should we?

Because he is a better player  than Preuss in my opinion.

That’s the problem, we have gone for kids and they have failed...need mature bodies for this role.

I'm hoping he just goes on Casey's list so we can play Bradtke forward. We need a mature body for that role he would be perfect but if he's off to North there is nothing we can do.

Who was the best player for Box Hill in the GF? IMO if Campbell was playing for us we would have had a better chance of winning.

Drunkn can tell us who the rucks are for Casey this year, but I hope to hell we don't kill Bradtke.

As stated Tom has been picked up by North to replace Pruess. We had the chance this draft to pick up a tall, such as Campbell, but didn’t ....did not pick up a tall at all.

We have only 2 Rucks, and 3 tall forwards on our list inclusive of T.Smith ...to me a bad draft, especially the rookie pick.

Weid and T Mac can pinch hit in the ruck if needed.   We played Gawn solo all last season with those guys relieving him.

We have gotten stronger with Preuss.

No, waste of a list and rookie spot.

Rather give a promising under 23yo ruck/forward a go.

Plus you mentioned Chris Connolly. Yuck.

If you saw Chris Connolly play football - usually well beaten against height, weight and reputation - you would not say 'Yuck'. That guy was a terrific footballer who played 'above his weight' week in, week out to terrific effect in very weak MFC teams - for several arduous years in terms of win-loss outcomes. His onfield victories against big names were stacked up like a pack of cards at the one-on-one or two-on-one contests. Even his aerial duels were the source of unexpected poise and power. It may not have transferred to his coaching career in all regards but it was difficult, at that time, to discount his game interpretation.

It would not be good form to discount the Preuss we picked up - he is highly motivated, young and teachable, driven to succeed in a Max environment and very likely to come out of the blocks of the MFC with roaring form and appetite to invoke opposition fear, trepidation and uncertainty at the widespread level. He is no 'Gentleman Cox', at all. At Preuss' age with his experience so far, Maxy was well known as 'Gawky', and he developed somewhat from that crassness. Preuss is going to murder opponents and play on as a very big part of our team.

Agree , Connolly was a very solid footballer for us, in a totally embarrassing period for the club.

Was one of my favs at the time. Of course being from the same town helped.

Fair point.....and so must I, but, if one of our only two rucks go down....what happens then...also, If TMac goes down or Weid does not come up, then...we can blame the club...agree?

I also understand your point of view and I agree. But, to be able to pick up a ruckman as a rookie, such as Campbell would have been a worthwhile in my opinion. To have at least 7 small forwards on our list rather than 3 ruckman, is the factor I question.

Tom was interviewed by Essendon, Adelaide and North Melbourne and will join North this week whilst Melbourne showed no interest.I question this attitude. And the fact that Chris Connolly knew his family extemely well and somebody like Kelly O’Donnell played with him...a further factor I question why did he not even get interviewed .He passed a medical at 3 clubs that interviewed him. It is over now, but, we need to pick up someone in a year or two if Bratke does not seem to make it..hope he does .

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
