Been lurking here for the last few months but I'm one of the bigger PJ fans around so this was enough to make me sign up, well done!

My question:

What advice would you give someone at the start of their career who wants to work in football admin, and what makes someone good at the job? Its impossible not to be inspired by what you've achieved since you started with us.

Welcome to Demonland.

Are looking into getting into football admin?

Does he offer Demons members discounts on his suits?

Or his cigarettes? And what about any of his movies?

I can actually picture his answer and the exact look on his face upon being asked said inane questions.

My actual question would be about what would be the best way for us to maintain our upward momentum? Too often we as a club have gotten very self satisfied at this point and proceed to shag everything up.

Thanks!

Just finishing up uni and something I'm sort of dreaming of one day

Well done in getting Jacko, I look fwd too listening in.

My questions to Peter Jackson would be...

1) Besides winning games of football, what does the Melbourne Football Club need to do continue to become financially successful?

2) What advice would you give to Gary Pert when he takes over the reigns as CEO of the Melbourne Football Club?

Does he grow tired of hearing junior staff members refer to him as "Peeeeeeteeerr Jaaackson" when they think he's out of ear shot but actually he isn't?

Is the interview prerecorded or live? If live it’ll coincide with the closure of trade week so it’d be good to get PJ’s assessment of trades, player contracts given they appear very flexible and what he thinks of trade week in general.

We pre-recorded the interview this morning to accommodate Peter. We will air it at the top of the show and then @Grapeviney, @Nasher and I will discuss the trades.

What are his thoughts on Bartlett as head of the board? People on here have denigrated Bartlett, it would be good to hear PJ thoughts on him and the board as an overall compared to his time at Ess.

Speaking of them, I know this is a Dees podcast but it would be amazing to hear PJ thoughts on the Ess drug scandal.
Does he think it was right for the players to be punished under the WADA code? Did the club take enough responsibility for it?
Are all clubs now fully onboard the WADA code?

What does he he think of the ridiculous nature of the trade period now days?

Can he give us and understanding of what kind of preparation/time goes into the end of season delist/trade/draft period? How many people at the club are involved? How often during the season do they meet to discuss the salary cap, players staying, players
maybe coming in?

Is there 1 thing he is most proud of from his time at Melb?
Is he a Demon for life now??? :)

Lota of qs but would be good to get a real sense of some of the inner workings of this stuff, not the same old “what was the club like when you arrived? “Stuffed”” type questions.

PS awesome get gents!!!

Sorry ?

The 3 mins I spent thinking up those qs, was 3 mins well spent away from the Hoges thread.

Hope it went well, can’t wait to have a listen to it.

The man doesn't eat biscuits. He eats cement direct from the mixer.

Can you ask what Peter thinks about the muppets on here that think they could negotiate trades better than Josh Mahoney and how they could best help next year?  E.g.should they come down to the club and advise or do they serve the club best from behind their keyboards.

Excellent interview with PJ

Our new CEO has big shoes to fill, let’s hope that happens

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
