Users can no longer change their Display Names themselves.

If you would like to change your display name you may request it in this thread but you must do so by stating your current display name and the name you would like to change it to.

This will ensure some transparency for other posters to check this thread. Limit of 1 change per year.

In order for me to act on this sooner I would suggest you @ me in the post so that I am notified. Please use this thread to make the request rather than PM me.

Lifetime subscribers are allowed to manually change their usernames once every 30 days and are not required to post in this thread but are free to do so.

Good initiative,.

But the main issue is posters opening new accounts - it's hard to control that though and I don't think you should bother trying.  The community will call this out when necessary - most long term posters have a distinctive style.

I am aware of a number of posters doing this and I let them know privately that this is not acceptable particularly when then alt accounts are used to snipe.

This is a separate issue to the Change of Display Name one.

The system defaults to 3 name changes a month which is far too many.

I recently changed it to 1 per year for regular members.

I may revert to this if this experiment is too much of a hassle.

I always thought that everyone could go into anyones profile and see the name changes but apparently this is only for admins and not even mods can see this and the setting is not changeable.

I made this change for that reason.

I believe we can all see which existing posters have changed their usernames. I just tested it out on a poster by going into their profile and clicking the below symbol which is next to their name.

Yeah. That's what I get. When I was testing it out with @Grapeviney we couldn't see that on his mobile.

Are you using a PC or mobile to do that?

Found it. Mods can now view Display Name history.

Members can also view this by clicking on the rewind clock symbol next to a users name in their profile.

Wait a minute. I tested that out on your account and what did i find:

OCTOBER 11, 2005

Nasher      Demonland

Enter the dragon did not have the rewind symbol. Is it safe to assume then there has not been a name change and that if there is no rewind symbol there hasn't been a name change?

Happy to keep display name

I saw that too. I'm assuming it dates back to the creation of the new forum software in 2005 which Nasher set up or I'm really Nasher.

have you ever been in the same room together Clark?

If there is no rewind symbol that user has not changed names under that account. That does not preclude a user from having a separate account.

I will remind users that it is against forum rules to have multiple accounts. In the past we haven't always policed this rule but if you are using another account to take potshots at others then we will act if found out. Also don't take pot shots at others whether using another account or not.

With my namesake already departed, I've decided to go early on a new display name based on the impending arrival of KK.

@Demonland could you please update my name from Is Dom Is Good to Collar-Jazz-Knee

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
