Ex Demon Luke Beveridge

Featured Replies

Just watched the biggest re-write of footy history: Luke Beveridge on that MLC Journey with the Game segment. He states he began his playing career at St KIlda. News to me, I could have sworn there was a player called Luke Beveridge who ran around in Demon colours in the Northey days. Can't say he ever impressed me all that much as a player...

Maybe he started at St Kilda in the under 19's or reserves, but debuted in 1989 for the MFC against Carlton in a 6 point win.

He kicked 27 goals for us in 1991 in his best year for us.

1989–1992    Melbourne    42
1993–1995    Footscray      31
1996–1999    St Kilda          45

Total        118

He played under 19s for us in 1988.  I remember him playing in the reserves that year a few games wearing number 55.   I remember because he took one of the best marks I've seen in a reserves game at the G - absolute screamer.

Think you're getting a bit upset over nothing. He talks about his first experience being in the crowd at Linton St as an eight year old watching Trevor Barker, then when he was traded to St Kilda, Barker was one of the coaches.

Being an East Bentleigh boy, he was zoned to us, but like many locals, barracked for St Kilda. In '89, he won the reserve's b and f and best first year player in the seniors.

Listen to the first couple of lines again. Very carefully. Talks about his playing days for St Kilda coming full circle. Supporter, plays for Melbourne, then Footscray,  then back to St Kilda where his interest in coaching begins.

Very successful recruiter in his time at the Saints.

Yep add Brett Bailey, Paul O Brien and a few others to this list!

I'll tell you something else about Bevo he was a sensational cricketer as well.

His philosophy was See Ball and smashit out of the park!!

As Brutal a batsman that I have seen!

Lovely guy is Luke. Some of his family are still Melbourne as he started with us. Then went to the Bulldogs and on to St Kilda. And yep, his father John was St Kilda's recruiting manager for many years.

Paul ' s a good bloke. He still follows the Dees shame he didn't play more games but hurt his knee. His young son loves us 2.

Where did Paul end up?   Is he still in Melbourne town?

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

  • GAMEDAY: Richmond

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
