I know Gill and the AFL are easy targets for most f*** ups, bit in this case it's actually a deal between Ticketek and the MCG trust. The AFL have nothing to do with the deal (though they do reap the profits), the MCG and Ticketek are answerable for what went wrong. The WA game was sold through a different agency and apparently went smoothly. Time to ditch Ticketek

Travis Auld on SEN was interviewed a short time ago and I heard the same. Basically said the blame falls on the MCG/MCC. Are they simply at fault because the chose a ticket provider that couldn’t handle the online traffic?

Who actually schedules the release days and time for tickets? Is it the stadiums?

The West Coast game sold 50,000 tickets without a hitch in two hours via Ticketmaster.

I think they're all to blame, I did note AFL trying to palm the blame off but this issue has been going on for what, 4 years now? Surely they have more pull than that.

Seriously the anxiety I am feeling waiting for 1pm is a joke.

12 bloody years waiting to see us play finals, and then this debacle. We fork out so much money for these memberships, I'll be really annoyed if we end up with crappy seating in a game that is only meant to reach 80,000 attendance.

Please don't wish Ticketmaster on anyone.

These are the guys that have Ticketmaster Resale, have a look at the prices on this site and you will get what it is about...

The 2 internationally owned ticket agencies are not the answer, not the place to go into the way they deal but they fall under the 2 major conglomerates that run entertainment world wide. They are very powerful and not afraid to wield that power.

There is a reason they didn't apologise...they just don't care.

They are too big to care about a few fans of a backwater sport.

There has to be a better solution.

Check your mail!

My sister was organising tickets for the family yesterday and had much the same story as everyone else...managed to make a booking but it timed out before confirming the purchase. Four hours later she gave up in disgust.

Ten minutes ago her tickets from the 'failed' purchased arrived via email.

The AFL has enough skin in this game to demand staggered start times.  But they didn't think it through.  Two games at the MCG with huge memberships should have set red lights flashing at AFL House.  No one had the foresight to see that 340,000 people on multiple devices would bring the system down.  But that is as obvious as the day is long.

All parties need to share responsibility.   No buck passing.

In many businesses this crippling experience for huge numbers of Ticketek customers would be enough to justify cancelling their contract.  But we have a duopoly.

Fix the human incompetence and it may not be such a big problem.  Then fix the Ticketek technology and it should be a breeze.

That wasn’t my intention rjay, I have no idea how these agencies work. I was only repeating the comment by Travis Auld this morning to highlight the blame pointed at the MCC whereas Optus Stadium must be receiving praise from the AFL for choosing Ticketmaster which dealt with much less traffic on their servers.

Goodness, it’s been mentioned earlier in the thread but there’s a chance this has happened to a number of people and unbeknownst to them, their email is still doing laps in cyber space. When they try again today their membership barcodes might not be valid.

Small positive would be the Richmond game is on sale first today and we’d hear if problems continue online.

That's pretty much what happened to me, however I got 2 extra tickets off the same single booking. Just imagine the mess on their end hahaha

If you have no idea, don't comment

There is an online onsale

You have ticket buyers all on different devices, all with different internet speeds, all with different firewalls, different versions of someimes not up to date browsers etc etc, this is not to excuse the debacle yesterday but to point out the reality

From Ticketek twitter:

The last one is important as I saw this on a Richmond fan site:  "... if you have the Ticketek mobile app open and other browsers open with you logged into your account multiple times it can determine you are scalping and block the app..."

Following on from that quote it could be those who 'bought' tickets yesterday but didn't finish the process and if the tickets are still allocated to you it may reject the same barcodes today.  So if that happens check 'My Order' tab.

Good luck folks!

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
