Very open to dropping Harmes and Petracca but the forward/mid stocks are light on as it is and we have to redeploy Fritsch to half back to replace Lewis and bring in Spargo as is.

I'd drop Harmes he kicks 2 the opposition even when we have man in the clear thus killing any forward thrust.

The way I see it is that we have dropped two winnable games in a row, and a message needs to be sent to to the crew that it simply isn't good enough.

There are probably about 6 guys in the side that should be dropped after the past two weeks, but we don't have 6 to replace them.

The club needs to roll the dice and see what we have with a Petty or Baker. Could be an upgrade over Joel or Tim Smith. Garlett needs to come back in and it think we need to look and see if Balic is capable at AFL level.

I'd bring in Weid for T.Smith, while he hasn't dominated a game yet Weid at least knows how to work with the other forwards and doesn't get in the way like Smith and peds have done.

Also OMac needs another tall down back, I like J.Smith but asking him to be lever is wrong, I'd bring in Petty or Frost for Vince. Maybe Garlett for Hannan or ANB, but only if his energy is through the roof at Casey, he doesn't need a bag but needs to show he'll bring something great to the team

Too many chances for this bloke

Tommy Mac, please be okay and available

I like him but we can't carry him at the minute. He plays a cameo every now & again. But he let's us down when he misses so many set shots. We must select good kicks. I didn't like how ANB ignored the man in the clear for a shank of a kick when he missed the goal in the first half

Hannan stays for me still kicked 2.3 so getting opportunity

Mitch H misses clutch goals

Even Lindsay Thomas kicked a pressure goal

Nothing personal, but too many cameo roles at the moment

Mind you, he's not alone in that aspect

Petty and Baker must come in we are too slow and small down back. Garlett must also come in.

Forget about the 3 tall forwards and drop Tim.Smith, drop Joel as well and drop Petracca he's been disgraceful. Hogan hasn't been much better the last 2 weeks he must lift.

IN: Petty, Baker and Garlett

OUT: Tim.Smith, Joel.Smith and Petracca

Joel Smith literally saved us from conceding 3 times tonight. He deserves another run.

What the [censored] does everyone have against Lewis. He's good over head and probably in our top 5 kicks at the club. Everyone upset about his pace yet how many times does he get run down?

J. Smith is also a kid ffs. He had so many inspirational efforts against port tonight, being that last man in defence. Lever is a big miss, but it's not any one individuals fault in our defence that we look like [censored] now.

OMac could be missing due to his hit on Marshall. Shouldn’t be, but you know the AFL! Other changes depend on form at Casey today. Garlett needs to play a blinder as his previous VFL form has been average at best. If Spargo is better, I would bring him in, for Tyson or Harmes.  A good game from Weid and he comes in for Tim Smith. Stretch in the mix, again for Tyson or Harmes.

Goodwin was pleased with the “behaviours” of the team, so don’t think there will be too many changes

My 6 on very very shaky ground would be Harmes, Hannan, ANB, Lewis,Vince & Smith (either).  Harmes because he can't finish, Hannah goes missing & can't convert from set shots? ANB because he just seems to run & has poor disposal, Lewis too slow, Vince too careless & both Smiths because of inexperience (I'd persist  with both Smiths, but I'd drop the other 5. But I know they wouldn't consider dropping Vince & Lewis. But the other 3 need 2 improve their games at Casey.

I think most would agree with you there.

So the behaviours are good it's the rest that's crap then

It's because other teams exploit his lack of pace. He concedes the ball 2 often when one on one and they run off him

This is the week they need to give Petty a run, put him on the young forward Battle from St Kilda. Omac to take McCartin

Hopefully Petty plays well, I’d like to see Vince dropped for him but can’t see that happening

Agree.

I’d pick Garlett, add his average of 1.8 goals per game and it counts!

Also stick Weideman on 50m arc as a different target when opposition flooding inside 50. He’s a big pretty straight kick!

Vince very lucky to hold his place. Maybe try Petty instead of Vince!

I'll watch casey today before making my mind up ( not that it matters ). Garlett is a bloke who won't perform at VFL level but will occasionally pull his finger out at AFL even though he is inconsistent.

What a lot of people aren’t  realising is we are lacking run from half back because Hibberd is being forced to defend a y’all due to our small backline

100%.

One of Lewis or Vince just has to go as we can't keep carrying both in the backline. My pick is Vince.

Ins: Petty & Garlett (if he performs).

Outs: Vince & Tyson

B:      Jetta                  O McDonald          J Smith

HB:   Hibberd              Petty                       Lewis

c :     Salem                Viney                      Brayshaw

HF:   Fritsch               Hogan                    Melksham

F:     Garlett                T McDonald           Petracca

R:     Gawn                  Oliver                      Jones

Int:   Hannan        T Smith        Neal-Bullen      Harmes

I want them to roll the dice and give Petty a crack. We need Hibberd playing as the backline runner and he is unable to do that effectively at the moment. We can all see that having both Vince and Lewis down back is too slow so one of them has to go. Lewis is a better user so he stays.

Tyson is too slow and unless he is playing as a pure mid he is next to useless. I would like to see us trade him for someone with pace to play as a wingman.

This is my hope but I know Goodwin won't drop Vince.

Agree with this, that’d be my preferred side

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
