I think I might have said on the Demonland Podcast that I wasn't going to acknowledge the AFL Team of the Week as presented by Kane Cornes. I probably shouldn't make public pronouncements.

I will say that Rance's dive should have precluded him from the team.

Finally Jetta getting some love.

Obviously Josh Kennedy's 16 disposals, 7 marks, for 6 goals 1 was better than Jesse's 19 disposals, 10 marks, 5 goals 1.

Had to get agro about something.

Our boys excluded, there are some bloody ugly mugs in that team of the week. Was that Jetta’s best game for the club?

Rance is an out and out gun who dives and plays dirty, I hate him just like I hated Carey. Would have loved either if they played for dees though.

The major differences are Nic Nat kicked 2 goals but Maxy had 39 more hitouts.

What's a more important stat for a Ruckman?

Edit: Oh and Max took 5 more Marks.

Whats this,  Hogan on the bench?  Are they for real!  5 goals 19 poss  10 MARKS!    numerous assists, They are on D censored.

Jetter you are a machine.

Rance is up there with Ablett as the most overrated player in the competition. How often does he play on and beat the best forwards in the competition? There is no great skill in playing off the opposition's 5th or 6th best forward. Plus I'm still dirty on him for his dog hit on Watts a few years ago.

Funnily enough, I agree re Ablett also.

Agree Ethan. I think our boys are extraordinary good looking and proud of the fact there is not a man bun in sight.

If Fugazi could be turned into a footballer it would be Niknat.

Nic Nat the most overrated footballer in the comp - length of Conrod straight.

We'd need an Italian surely. Orazio Fantasia. Marcus Bontempelli. Petracca?

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
