Yep, save our pennies for real talent, and go hard.

Did you see his one handed pick up and evasive glide out of trouble last week?

The other one I think might be more important than Gaff, is Steven May.

We cannot be sure that Lever won't breakdown again.   Like the Ox did.

We need to cover off this area. I'd be spending my money this year on May.   With accompanying trades.

I would be looking at trading to the Gold Coast, for May.

OMc and Jones.

I love my club;  and also I really want the 2nd Qld team to succeed. GCS

For them the Key is real tough Love, with the right disciplined leaders.    To set them up the right way_   Enter Nathan Jones...   And Zac Jones, from the Swans.

We have a few possibilities as trade options, from ->   OMc, Tyson, Hunt, AVB, Wagner, Kent, Bugg, JKH, Keilty,

Why would WCE do a side trade as part of Gaff deal when their compo for him leaving as a RFA would surely be a pick inside top 10. In a draft with excellent high end talent, this would clearly be better than trading for, say, Tyson, Harmes or ANB. My understanding is that if Eagles do a trade for Gaff they get no AFL compo. A sneaky lop-sided trade on the side would not get past the AFL trade integrity officer (yes, I know AFL/integrity). Can't see this going through myself.

Nathan Jones is the best option in the League having been there done that, as a leader.

He is slowing, but his leadership is perfect for that specific job...  the biggest job in AFL right now.

He has seen all the methods of trying to build, and rebuild...  the failures and the correct path.

He has the stern mind and the steely Look.   His discipline is 2nd to no other.  And I think he would love the Lifestyle up there for a few years.

This would be a Ma$$ive Pay Day for nJones, if offered this Job.  And would guarantee him a huge place in AFL history, for taking the role on.  $M2.25  over 3Yrs ???

His brother would get to play alongside Nathan, and could possibly take the leadership, following.

Jones'y would help us get May into the club, and possible an early 1st Rnd pick,,, with us adding others onto the deal,  to help set them onto an even Keel.

We are blessed for mature heads and hard honest workers on our list...  this is what the Gold Coast lacks_   'Real Honesty',  and 'Real Commitment'.

Lets get it done Melbourne and AFL.

Would they get a top 10 pick, or a pick after their first, which may fall as high as 17.

I agree that a sneaky trade won't work. Either they match and trade (in which case we are pooped), or they let him go.

Personally, I think he'll re-sign with them.

Zac Jones is as far from a leader as you get. Absolute knucklehead.

Jones isn't one to drag a club out of a whole like that. He had PJ and Roosey to back him up. They need a Hodge or Callan ward type.

My understanding is that the AFL can give them a pick anywhere. Could be after their 1st pick, or it could be 'mid first round' or it could be 'early first round'

Your very short sighted Mickey.

NJones is perfect for the role as the reasons stated.  His Discipline crucial.     Dew is there now as coach.  Swans disciplines.

Zac Jones would be there in support of his brother,, helping nJ change the culture at ground level.   While Dewy does his thing from above the List.

Having seen others quote you I had to unignore you to respond to this gem.

You must have a special kind of hatred for Nathan Jones to inflict more pain on him at this stage of his career.  Not happy with him finally starting to enjoy the fruits of his labour, and maybe even a flag, you want to send him to the AFL's biggest basketcase for him to spend his remaining years wallowing once again at the foot of the ladder.

For someone to either hate someone else so much, or to be so totally unaware of what you're wanting to inflict on another human being, you have my undying admiration.

No-one could either be so cruel, or so stupid.

Well done.

why would Jones agree to go to a club with no prospect of success in his career when he’s been at Melb through the worst of the worst and we’re just starting to get some success??? You know he has a contract beyond this year?

Lol don't even get me started on Jones. Did I read during the week that Jones has been the biggest slider in the AFL player rankings this year?

Also, my post was part of a running joke, I do enjoy a bit of humour - rare around these parts.

I would suggest that I'm not being short-sighted, but that you are being wildly unrealistic. There are any number of well disciplined players that can go up there to show then how it's done. Our longest serving captain and future 300 gamer won't be it.

So the poster formerly known as Deeluded, who is currently using the moniker that sounds out 'deviate,' is stretching sane and coherent thought...

How does anyone react to that anymore?

The choice would be with Nathan, and his family...   PD.

There is none of your hate PD.  you are the one holding hate in your absenteeism.  And don't bother coming out of your hole to UN-ignore. It's been a pleasure not reading you til now, with you in there.

Try looking in a mirror, if you think of your last statements.

And you honestly think Nathan and Jerri would uplift their life and [censored] off to the GC just to go through more heartache!?

Sorry Deeluded, but this right up there as worse if not worser then my ANB thread.

Couldn't think of a more disgusting way to treat our captain and most loyal servant of this club.

No the choice is entirely yours. I am sure Jones hasn’t considered such a heartless option, just so you can witness The strengthening of the GC $un$

F$&@ the $un$. It should have been Nought Melb.
