rushing to support is one thing...

by your own rationale should some not be allowed to consider Goodwin in their own fashion ?

I see NO evidence that unequivocally supports  Goodwin. I see scores that suggest he's dong OK. I see doings that suggest he''s pigheaded and an idiot !!   that's my view of course. Neeld wasn't entirely wrong. What makes you think Goodwin at this early juncture is SO right ?  Seriously ..i'm interested. Am sure others are

Vocal player support

Player growth

Roos' choice

Emphasis on culture

Stable support staff

Selection consistent with his philosophy on football

Innovation in terms of tactics

Lack of voluntary player movement

Centre bounce, Sharked by Selwood, handpasses to Dangerfield, shrugs a tackle, baulks, sees Watts on the lead, kicks, Jack .... oh clever, gains possession 40 out .. sees Ablett but goes for home and slots it, that's his 4th goal and there's the half time siren.. what a player!!

Would look much more dangerous and impressive if you swapped Watts name with Hawkins.

Sounds like Geelong are going to go further down the path of no return, in giving up all their picks for mature age players. They don't have any serious talent below the age of 25. The cliff will come for them.

With Ablett and Watts, so will a premiership Next year!! IMO

Better than the quicksand of HOPE we have to stand on!!

prey tell...put that in some semblance of SENSE

you know what NONE of that is why  Jack is being shafted

and i still dont know what you are waffling about.. Cheers

and there it is. 150 up after a whirlwind last 10 overs. Despite the ball spinning at right angles, jack has thrown caution to the wind and smashed at anything short of a length or outside leg stump. great innings and a personal best score for jack. meanwhile jake has been pacing himself and taking no risks, playing a straight bat at most balls, holding up his end, playing the long game. next stop the 300 partnership.

OK   i'm going out on a limb here...i have no idea what that is in English  but I'm just , for a moment , going to suppose that you think Watts might add to the cart that is the "Cats". If so. an outside running player who can spot up someone on a sixpence will very much help them. And I'll cry all night .

Let's just hope we don't miss Watts in the forward line too much next year and hope Weideman takes a big step up. I suspect Tom Mcdonald and Pedersen will have their ups and downs.

Whereas Watts was a model of consistency.

Who left the punters on the retirement home tonight?

It’s a shame then we’re losing Watts who was always up.

So you're point is sometimes people rush in to support their footy club?

My point is that this footy dept and the previous footy depts. are different. Intelligent posters on this forum saw the warning signs very early on in Neeld's time. All evidence points to Goodwin and the rest of the footy dept steering this team in the right direction. When the evidence is positive, I think support is deserving. And at the very least, Goodwin has done enough already for this footy club for supporter to think twice before slagging him off because they disagree with one decision.

I'm not as confident as you that Goodwin has done enough in his time. One major problem is to insist on continuing their way of playing' despite being beat. He only inists on playing those he is wedded too (maybe brought them to the club etc) has shown tha he will play them despite better options available.

goodwin has thrown the baby out with the bathwater. I was the responsible of the coaches to they the best out of the individual to assist the team. Goodwin isn't interested in those that are mimic of his person style. So rather the team being coached for winning now it takes a few years from the coach to have mini me type in the team

MFC have been working/shopping the Watts trade this morning.

MFC have inquired about Zac Jones Plus pick or player in exchange for Watts. Although this was not outright rejected by Sydney, Sydney indicated this was unlikely. Zac is a required player.

I don't understand this post, are you saying this is actually happening??

Watts has been told to explore options, so surely he will nominate a club first. Only then could the club start even having preliminary discussions like this.

Or are you saying he has nominated Sydney? Wouldn't that be an odd move at the same time as touring another club? I had originally thought Sydney would be his destination but Geel seem like a better fit to me and the media seem to think Port.

Given Zac has been mentioned I can see how a hypothetical fan trade could be discussed in forums, but officially from the club, that would be very poor form all things considered.

You asked me to present some evidence suggesting Goodwin was heading in the right direction.

And I'm sorry bub, but I'm not sure you're the poster on Demonland that can question the sense of another. Did you re-read that post?

If we're still relying on Pederson next year, then we're in trouble.

I wasn't the one casting aspersions on our coach.

But what's Goody going to do now that he doesn't have the option of dropping Watts which seems to be his go to strategy?

I'm really no fan of Bugg in the forward line. And Melksham is a little overrated.

You need to give your comments some context Bobby

if the decision to trade Watts was signed off by the leadership group - where's your evidence their peers are upset?

Cats may well win the flag next year, but Ablett is finished. 10 games maximum next year.

I'd rather wait to the end of 2018 before claiming Goody is heading us towards premiership glory.

He plays a high risk, high reward sort of game though. A good finals finish next year exemplified by a Demons outfit with a harder edge will see praise thrown in all directions at him and the shedding of Watts the right move. Another average year though and perhaps a resurgent Watts in a top 4 Cats team will see Mark Neeld MKII being thrown around all over this forum.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
