Sydney looking very average, perhaps to be expected after 7 in a row? Hawks getting a good run from the umps is helping as well.

They might run out of steam come Sept.....

I have started to think that Bruce may have stopped commentating long ago and it's actually just an Bruce-algorithm AI commentator.

"He just hasn't been Buddy tonight, but he will be"

On Burgoyne: "He's the kind of player you had to see to know how good he was"

Can't be a real person.

He's become a bit of caricature of himself. That Buddy comment you highlighted was nonsensical.

What matters to Melbourne is the top 8 so worrying about the top 4 at this stage is silly. I really couldn,t care who wins tonite . If we win tmrw then I hope the dogs and saints lose coz they are hot on our heels for the 8. Brisbane winning would be nice but won't happen.

I'd have thought that as supporters we'd target the top 4 until such time as it's unattainable!

Funny you should say that amdam. I was thinking how weird that comment was - not just the actual words, also the weird sexualized tone.

Yes, he just hasn't been himself. But he will be

Just typical though. He butchered that kick running into 50 but playing against us he kicks it perfectly.

Some leading USA CEOS have warned us about this of late.

Hawthorn winning this would mean theres a good chance both them and the Swans will end up making the 8...   again.....  just when it looked like we might be rid of both for this season.

Will either of them ever go away?

You have to make the 8 before the top 4 and we havn't yet. Our run over the last 10 years leaves me with this conclusion anyway.

Swans: Geelong, Freo, Adelaide, Carlton

Hawks:  Richmond, North, Carlton, Bulldogs

Swans currently on 10 wins, Hawks on 7.

Hawks have a terrible percentage, they would have to win all games and could still miss out on percentage.

Swans should still make it unless they implode.

I know Hawthorn winning would be good for us, but I just hate them so, so, so much I can't bring myself to barrack for them. It would be brilliant if they were put out for the year.

HATE them.

The umpiring is disgusting, in their favour, as bloody usual. Although when things go against them they are being their typical whiny selves.

HATE THEM.

Do umpires need to have a 25m penalty as well as the 50 which has too much impact at times?

Ño. A 25 metre penalty could be used as a tactic. That is why the 50 was bought in

What the [censored] was that interaction between Hodge and that ump? Thought the  maggot was going to get out a pen and paper and ask for an autograph. Bloody sickening.

I thought when he said 'sure Luke, sure Luke' he was actually taking the [censored].

For minor offences like mouthing off a 25m.

For head high hits a 50m.

I hate seeing games swayed by a soft 50m penalty.

Then again that may be too complicated for NIcholls to get his head around.

Don't mouth off. The rules stand

there are too many rules as it is.

We need less rules

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
