Last year Geelong played Hawthorn in week 1, and it was at the MCG, and then they played Sydney in the prelims, and that too was at the MCG. So why would it be different this year? Even against Sydney they were made to play at the MCG.

What? Should West Coast be denied a home final just because the capacity at their ground isn't big enough to satisfy the crowd that could potentially come at the MCG? It will be a sell out if they get a home final so on your criteria it should be moved?

Oh I dunno Wrecker, I could use some advice for dealing with my mum.

I do indeed plan to take them both to a game next year. Unfortunately for now it will seem like torturous boredom to them, so I need to ease them into it. If I force the issue now it'll drive them away.

My son's Auskick experience is still front of his little 6 year old mind. It was a thoroughly unenjoyable time and achieved the exact opposite of what I wanted. We've been a total of 5 times now and none has been as bad as the first, but he still doesn't have any fun.

Ummm slight difference in capacity

34,000 at Simmonds vs. 43,500 at Subiaco

When the finals are in Perth, you are less likely to get supporters travelling to the game from interstate, but between two Victorian teams, you should expect both teams to be supported equally (within their membership base numbers)

Besides, Geelong playing at the MCG is not like West Coast having to play interstate when they've earnt a home state final. Totally different.

...because the idea was to get a home state final...not a home ground final as the AFL and Cats have now spun it. It just happens that for interstate clubs (not always Sydney) the ground of choice is their home ground.

It's absurd the Cats getting a home final at Kardinia Park.

Nope strange year for me really . 

I bought a trident membership 8 years ago and the on field struggle kinda went hand in hand with what I was experiencing in my personal life . The sudden and unexpected death of my mother and the ongoing drama's that happen in life .But becoming involved with the dees has been great , seeing the players in the club area and standing up for them if I felt it was needed on away games with opposition supporters going way over the line . ( i should probably stop that lol) 

So its been a journey and now with 2 kids under 4 and trying to juggle work for both parents I have missed games this year including the weekend  . Next year hopefully the kids can tag along and it will be a different experience again . 

I hold my trident membership and have hopes of seeing more games next year and all of the finals this year no matter what!!!

Made the C change to try and retire . It's working but slow. So we are 3 hours drive to the city. We get family membership, which has allowed me to infiltrate the minds of 4 simple young impressionable souls. And seeing we win more this year the job is done . But I only get to about 3 matches if I'm lucky, so it's s donation but at least I can answer yes I'm a bloody member even if you can't Hear me yell and swear at the umps from the MCG plus I ride all the bumps. The other punters must think I'm demented . Go Dees.    Time to pass copious amounts of personal water on norf melbum

I was in Tassie doing some pre match training.

if you think it was cold there it was snowing in cradle mountain on route to Strahan where caught the match huddled in the car listening on radio.

It was all good and there seems to be quite a few members down here maximising the visit so could be a good crowd.

We have a group coming down and a good win will enhance the visit to MONA. We could create an art installation in red and blue

We've all waited far too long to see a final (my 11 yo boy is yet to pop his cherry) for our moment in the sun to be in WA.

And this week I'm going to Melbourne and the sides playing in bleeding Tasmania         its just not fair !!

I was there, unfortunately by myself, normally 3-5 of us, but the others were busy with local footy or work.

I actually had quite a good day, I had 4 people sit next to me, bloke was a Crows supporter but basically went for the Dees for the day, his misses was a one eyed Port supporter, her daughter, another Crows supporter and the daughter's boyfriend was a Dees member. Although the mother was one eyed, she was quite funny and couldn't believe how much Nicholls was looking after them with frees. ? She even high fived big Maxy as he walked around the fence line after the game. ?

It was a biggest crowd v port at the MCG ever

I was at home listening to every episode of the Demonland podcasts.

You don't need to tell me. My wife is a school teacher and she had a kid in her class that wore his dees jumper proudly on wear your footy colours day and he had never actually seen Melbourne win live.

That wasn't @Nasher was it? I seem to recall Nash suggesting he was, until quite recently, starved of witnessing a win live (but I might have that wrong).

Your story did resonate with me - I first started supporting the dees through the early 80's, just before the time RDB came back to the club. It was pretty lean back then as well. Then came Swooper and the 87 finals....

My boy is exactly the same now as your wife's student - whilst he was only one of 2 dees supporters at the school, the school principal is a dees' man as well, which worked well when some of the dees players visited the school; my boy always got front and centre access.
