It's more that he had trade value. What will they get for him this year now?

A lot less. Adelaide had talent to deal.

Aah well its Carlscum. I have less than zero sympathy.

Disagree, mate, but each to their own.

As for Carlton, they're playing a side as young as our blokes, but are nowhere. It shows the gulf between our list and Carlton's and we're not even challenging for the top 4. I'll say it again. Carlton are in big trouble.

They are nowhere near as bad as we were a few coaches back at least they have a couple players who can play the game. I don't think there future will be awful but they will need so complete some cracking trades/drafting recruiting

Cripps, Murph, Gibbs and Docherty all need to be there a long time. They need Simpson to play forever and as an outsider hbf.

I love Weitering, think Marchbank, Plowman, Silvagni, Petrovski-Seaton and Curnow will be players.

What they are desperate more than anything for is:

FF:      Garlett.    Kennedy.     Betts

I was hoping Carlton would be kept to three goals.

And that Casboult would be their only goal scorer. Ah well. Let's hope they still lose by 100 points.

I was hoping Cripps would cop a smack in the gob again.

Commentators were talking Rowe up

Must be over that terrible concussion

One question I would love answered for tonight's game is;

who has the bigger head - Ollie Wines or Charlie Dixon?

He was wasteful tonight, but is Paddy Cripps gettable? Imagine Oliver and Cripps playing in the same side. Nah, I'll take Weitering for one of our KPB posts. ;)

You'd prefer Marchbank to Weitering?

Marchbank is a defender..... I assumed when you mentioned 'our KPB possies' I'd take him over Oscar.

Weitering is a different cat. Anywhere on the ground for that kid I reckon. I hope Carlton develop him well enough that when he joins the team he grew up supporting there's a flag for him.

Yeah, I'd play Weitering back though. Beautiful reader of the play. Good decision maker, neat skills and strong one on one. Come home, Jakey boy.

Not being able to put Carlton to the sword might effect us later this year in the run to finals. We need a percentage boost and should've beat up on them. They're a poor team going nowhere fast. Port are decent but will finish middle of the ladder again as I don't think they will sustain their intensity all season.

Our percentage will be solid most of the year, I reckon. It's all about wins for us. Get 12+ wins and we should make the finals. That's it.

I wish we played the team the Blues put out tonight because it was far weaker than the team we played.

I think Carlton are gearing themselves for another healthy trade/draft period.

Love the return of the collar on the Dogs' jumpers.

And how much of a dead ringer of Raphael Nadal is the young tall forward for Brisbane?! Spooky

Dogs playing like us at the minute - dominating the game but can't hit the scoreboard.  Lions have barely gone forward but have kicked 2 goals.

I hope Rockliff leaves Brisbane. They are going to be a seriously good side in 3 years time. Their KP stocks are already scary and McLuggage joins Beams, Zorko and Rockliff as one of the best starting midfields in the league, supported by an in form Stefan Martin.

Lucky they got that priority pick last year.

The AFL can't afford them to be down for much longer.

Brayshaw was pretty much a PP. I don't have a problem with Brisbane getting assistance. I just hope they don't interrupt our window. Rockliff leaving and maybe even Schache would be handy.

Just now, Sir Why You Little said:

Wow The Bears are 9.0

wish we had kicked like that 2 weeks ago!!

Lions doing a cats (appropriate) and Dogs doing a demon with those kicks on goal

The Bulldogs look ordinary today and they're not bringing that same pressure as last year, but Brisbane are going to be something. The defensive structures are superb, both through the middle of the ground, and their defensive zone.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • POSTGAME: Geelong

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
